A firey death message from Tartarus. That's how everyone wants to start their day. Actually, it wasn't on fire, but it scared even me. And I went through Tartarus alone. The pile of bones appeared by my bed at two in the morning. Don't ask me why I was awake at this ungodsly hour. Anyway, the bones were mouse bones. And my first instinct was to kick them under the bed and run out screaming. Because I sure as Tartarus didn't put them there. But someone had. Man, Will was going to kill me, but I closed my eyes and concentrated. I was figuring the skeletons were going to reanimate and lead me somewhere. But instead I opened my eyes long enough to see a message written in bones. No, no, no.
"What were you doing? I told you not to do that!"
"I'm fine."
"No, you're not. I found you on your cabin floor next to a glowing bone message. You obviously wrote it." Will emphasized.
"I didn't write it. It was a pile of bones! I thought it was going to reanimate and lead me somewhere!" I protested.
"Not any better," Will muttered. "You are not going to investigate."
"What if I told you part of it was about you?" I asked. "And you probably have to go on a quest?"
"What did it say?" He relented.
"I don't know. I passed out before I could read it."
"I told you!" Will crowed.
"Be quiet."
"No thanks!"
"Whatever. Let's go maybe read it so we can see what it says?" I told him. I stood up and Will immediately shoved me back.
"I'll go back. When was the last time you slept?"
"Five minutes ago?" I tried.
"For real?"
"It doesn't matter. I think this has to do with the weird elf-y stuff going on." Will grabbed my hand and yanked me up.
"Come on. We gotta find Chiron."
We did not find Chiron. We found a very grumpy Mr. D. Aaaaaand we had to explain everything to him. When we finished, Mr. D. turned white.
"I must go." He said.
"Wait. Where's Chiron?" I asked.
"Not here." Mr. D. disappeared without another word.
Banging from across the camp interrupted me and Will trying to decipher the message. Will rushed out and ran across camp. Sure enough, a two girls were standing outside Cabin Three. One was banging on the door and the other was... I don't know. She was shooting water up into the air and catching it. Definitely an elf. How many of them were there?
"If you're looking for Percy," I called across. "Then you might want to wait. I think he's in the sword-fighting arena."
"This is important."
"If you don't want to get your arms cut off, I would advise talking to me instead." I warned.
"Same risk." Will teased. I rolled my eyes.
"We found a message." The girl with black hair and silvery eyes said.
"Me too." I agreed.
"I wrote it down... Here it is." The blond one pulled a piece of paper from her pocket. One edge was singed. "The message was on fire," she apologized. "Marella. Not Mare, not Ella, no nicknames."
"Nico." I muttered. "Can I see that?" She handed the paper over. "I got the same message. Obviously I'm the son of shadow."
"Except my brother can manipulate shadows." The other girl interjected. "Linh. Child of water at your service."
"Uhhh... It says "sons" and "children", plural." Will reminded us.
"What we need is to meet. All of us. That simple message could make or break this quest." I told them. "Tomorrow in... I guess the Big House. The camp council table thing can probably fit, like,, twenty people."
