I actually wrote the poem for this track in two versions. The first one, I wrote after my first few listen to this particular track which, turned out to be really something but I ended up revising after a few months and came up with this final version. "WE WERE SOMETHING" was a line that stuck in my head and therefore became the title of this poem, as it speaks of a relationship in the past, which was something meaningful. The 1 is a song that reminisces and cherishes something or rather someone that got away. It shows acceptance, growth, maturity, and civility. It's realizing that failed relationships or any relationships that may not even work out can still get to be a good thing to have in our lives because it's where we learn lessons. In those pain and heartbreaks, we may bleed but we tend to grow.
Even if that relationship didn't work out, at least it was something meaningful and beautiful and it's still rightful to cherish something in the past that way even though that person didn't end up being the one.
