(Inspired by the song, "August" by Taylor Swift)
The salty air
And cool breeze
Beneath my hair
And the secret sleaze
I remember thinking
I once had you
But it was just me hoping
That you loved me too
I never wanted more
And it was enough
Just by your front door
But it was tough
The bedsheets twisted
But you couldn't choose
When you're all I wanted
You weren't mine to lose
Like a bottle of wine
You slipped away
Never really mine
Even for just a day
Lost in memory
Of days turned nights
My drunken misery
Of my winless fights
I once pulled in
Revving my car
Asking you to get in
But your mind was far
Got my plans on cancel
Hoping you'd call
I remember so well-
Meetings behind the mall
Just when I thought
It was for the better
The one thing I fought
Hoping we'd end together
So much for saying
There'd be you and I
It was just me believing
Another sweet lie
