IN RUINING EVERYTHING

(Inspired by the song, The Last Great American Dynasty)

A sunny day

On an island sat

A story that may

Have been forgotten,

Remembered by some,

Or still even known by many

A middle-class divorcé,

Her name's Rebekah

And an heir of money

And Standard Oil, named Bill

Kept the town thinking,

"How did she do it?"

Their charming wedding

Was a little gauche

But that only goes far-

As new money goes

So they soon went

And bought a new home

They had it picked out

And had it named

As "Holiday House"

And then people say,

"There goes the last greatness

Of an American Dynasty"

Their loud tasteful parties

And his too much habits

Had his doc telling him

To settle himself down

It might've been her fault

His heart soon gave out

If she never showed up

Who would know?

What could've been?

If she was never seen

Having a marvelous time

In ruining everything

Rebekah gave up

On the Rhode Island set

For what seemed like -

Forever as she flew

All her friends from the city

She calls her Bitch Pack Friends

Her champagne-filled pool

Swam with the big names

That might sound cool

With all the money

That she had blown

With the ballet & boys

And soon it was known

She lost some card game bets

With a man named Dali

And there she goes

As the maddest woman

This town has ever seen

Some people say

She's seen on occasion

Sat quietly on the beach

Pacing down the rocks

And staring at the vast

Of the midnight sea

And some would say

She once had a feud

With her neighbor

That one time -

As she stole his dog

And dyed it key lime green

50 years has been

A long time since

Holiday House sat quietly

On that same beach

Free of women with madness

And men with their habits

Time flew by and soon came

When it was bought -

By the loudest woman

This town has ever seen

That goes by the name

Of Taylor Alison Swift

Who would know?

If she never showed up

What could have been?

As people would say

She had a marvelous time

In ruining everything

What a marvelous time

Indeed she did have

In ruining everything

People thought everything

Painting her as someone mad

When she isn't someone bad

For some people think

Everything on a simple drink

They haven't even tried

As if knowing someone

Could ever be easy as reading

Something out of a magazine

A marvelous time

In ruining everything

Has built something

That lasts forever like a page -

Told out of a history book

Countless times until it gets too old
