ENDING IN EXILE

(A collaboration poem inspired by the song "exile" by Taylor Swift feat. Bon Iver on the folklore album)

Written by: Queen Anne &  Alonzo Agustin

A:

Black screen and ending credits in my eyes-

The movie has ended, Start the muffled cries.

I should've went beyond the exit sign,

But here I am standing still over this line.

A:

Nostalgic and faithful romances

Kept myself reminiscing those lost chances,

Like I was watching a red-lipped American actress

From over the window, while hangin' from the branches.

A:

My mind's like a malfunctioning projector,

Playing that tragic scene over and over.

Him beside you in his getaway car, driving-

It's that film that I didn't like the ending

A:

You are that problem for me to solve

The love of my life I shouldn't have loved.

I wish you didn't stay and pretended,

So you wouldn't have to leave me offended.

.

Q:

I can see you staring

Like he's just nothing

But trouble and bloodshed

Bloody knuckles, seeing red

Q:

A hundred wasted chances

In empty void glances

My lost fortress

Taken over by distress

Q:

It's like the film I've been watching

Turns out, I didn't like the ending

Like a scene I've seen before

I'm not your problem anymore

Q:

You're no longer my homeland to defend

Now our own story has to end

I no longer need pretending

So who am I offending?

Q:

Leaving by the side door

You're not my home anymore

So I'd have to stop tears from falling

For never liked this ending

A:

Closing all the windows and doors,

No one would go home anymore.

I stepped right out, burned this roll of film.

I don't want to see you finding home in him.

Q:

You were the town

I used to fight for the crown

Now what am I defending?

When I'm in exile leaving

A:

I'd been always your hometown,

And you'd always won the crown.

I never pushed you nor let you down,

But you thought of exile leaving,

For you realized you're never really living.

Q:

You never learned to read my mind

Truth in my eyes you can find

Never read between the lines

I gave you so many signs

A:

But maybe I just failed to understand,

Not all the films could carry my hands.

I've seen the message but never followed,

I've read the sign and left it ignored.

Q:

So many signs I've gave as warnings

And yet you never did had an inkling

About the thoughts buried in my mind

Leaving you in exile & memories left behind

A:

I never learned to read your warnings,

Or perhaps you never gave me one.

All this time we're walking on this thin line,

Maybe it's time for me to exile this love,

So that I could accept our movie's ending.
