PLEASE PICTURE US

(A Collaboration poem inspired by the song, "Seven" by Taylor Swift)

Written by Queen Anne & Stacey B

Please picture us

Running carefree under the sun

Over the hills, beside the rivers

Just having fun

These are beautiful things I remember

At the tender age of seven

Please picture us

When the world was ours

Views from those tall trees

All in countless hours

Imagination capturing our hearts

We were anyone we wanted to be

I didn't quite understand

Why you fear your dad??

But when the sun went down

I wanted to ask, why is he always mad?

I wished you never went home

Although I can only recall you at that age

Please picture us

Playing hide and seek in the open fields

Picking up firewood to heat our meals

Telling stories and thoughts with wonders

We'd talk about what if roles could be reversed,

And what if children could run the world

Please picture us

At the tender age of seven

Our story would be written -

Passed down like a folktale

You and I will forever remain

As an old distant memory but never plain

Please picture us

In those sun-kissed days

Patterned braids and cheeky grins

Twirling in summer haze,

Flying around and jumping in

Glinting eyes and matching gaze

Please picture us

In those priceless moments,

In those laughing banters,

In pretending pirates,

In the weeds, screaming ferociously

Seemed uncivil but living freely

Please picture us

From the time where

The world wasn't too cruel

And haven't got us too scared

All I knew it was heaven

At the young age of seven

Please picture us

In our golden days

I may not recall your face

But still, my love for you -

Still brings me to a beautiful place

Of golden distant memories
