"We do not merely destroy our enemies; we change them." George Orwell

(PRESENT)

A few weeks had passed since Ellen's trip to Alexandria.

Ellen waved a gloved hand in front of her, wiping a coating of dust from a weathered sign. She inwardly laughed at the sign that said the owner would be back in half an hour.

Cautious, the woman entered the doctor's office. Upon entering the building, Ellen noisily tapped a window at the reception desk with the crowbar in her hand.

When she was positive she didn't hear any noise, Ellen worked her way further into the building, hoping to score some unused medical supplies.

To her disappointment, she found that the place had already been ransacked and wiped clean, except for a lone package of bandages and the occasional surgical tray. The undead that remained were put to rest a long time ago and their withered bodies were grotesquely decomposing.

Rolling her eyes, and stuffing the discolored package in her backpack anyways, Ellen headed for the door. She froze and ducked down when she heard the roaring of tires against asphalt outside.

Peeking out the waiting room window, Ellen watched as a truck rolled by.

Her eyes widened and she felt her heartbeat quicken when a whole enclave of vehicles followed in tow. She recognized those trucks.

Once the dust had settled, Ellen slowly came out from hiding, watching the last truck disappear out of view.

Her eyes narrowed and her grip on the crowbar tightened.

"Alright, what are you assholes up to?" Ellen muttered to herself, looking through a set of binoculars as she examined the scene below.

From a safe distance, and the cover of thick foliage, Ellen watched as a group of Saviors worked to block off the road ahead of her.

Her lip curled when she recognized one of the men calling the shots. Simon.

The afternoon continued like that, and she realized the Saviors were working to block off all the major roads leading to the Hilltop community.

Ellen knew of the Hilltop, as it was in her network of local, friendly civilizations she'd sometimes deliver supplies to. She wondered, worried, what the people had done to piss Negan off.

Time passed, and instead of leaving, curiosity tugged at her. She tracked the growing number of Saviors from far away, and wondered what the show of force was being used for. It was unlike Negan to send so many men out at once. It had to be something big.

Dusk was setting in when Ellen finally witnessed the first sign of adversity to the Saviors. A lone RV was driving down the road, slowing to a halt.
