35 – Wounded
I woke up with my arm feeling numb. I groaned and tried to push Atlas. I closed my eyes and massaged my arm gently.
I looked outside and saw the sun rising. I smiled and played with his hair.
I frowned when I noticed his hair color. I yawned and ran my fingers through his scalp.
"Is your hair naturally brownish?"
He sighed. "Yeah."
I chuckled when I heard his sleepy voice. I traced his jaw as he buried his face on my tummy.
"I thought it was black back then." I whispered.
"My cousin dyed it.."
I gently scratched his head and played with his hair using my fingers. I can feel his breathing on my belly and it is tickling me.
"Talaga?
"Yeah. She's a frustrated salon owner. She cuts my hair too.." nag-angat siya ng tingin. "Which do you prefer? Black or brown?"
I chuckled because of the frustrated salon owner. I shook my head and answered him.
"Brown."
"Alright. I won't let her touch my hair anymore."
With Atlas, getting out of the bed is the hardest part.
He's definitely not a morning person, I get that.
That week passed like ordinary days would. He would always go home looking tired and irritated.
He always acts like everything is fine whenever he's home. Pero iba ang sinasabi ng mga balita. There is still a problem. And I know it's serious.
I was always cooking that week. I always make sure that there's food whenever he arrives. Pambawi man lang sa nakakapagod niyang araw.
I didn't go to work the next day. We won the case. Luigi granted my wish and let me rest for the day. He even sent me an email to congratulate me for the case.
I spent my morning at nanay and tatay.
"Kaninong anak kaya 'yan?"
