Kurapika couldn't sleep that night. He tossed and turned, but just couldn't get comfortable. He took a late night drive, drank warm milk, but nothing he tried worked.
When the sun rose Kurapika hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. The bags under his eyes were large and dark, but that was nothing new to him. When he and Leorio were together, he almost never slept. He was always up all night studying.
Kurapika regretted how he treated Leorio back then. He wanted so bad to make up for it, but seeing Ella cry... it hurt him. It didn't matter to him if he knew her or not, she was a friend of Abby's, and by getting revenge for Abby, he had hurt her.
The way Kurapika hurt Ella couldn't be fixed with bandages or casts. It would take years for that wound to heal. Not even Leorio could fix what he did.
When the young Kurta finally got out of bed, he took a shower. He took one the night before too, a hot one to relax his muscles, but he still felt dirty. The problem was the dirt was inside of him. Something he did. No physical dirt could make him feel that dirty.
Kurapika took his time getting ready. He didn't have a plan for what he was going to do. He eventually decided to go to the restaurant and check up on Abby.
Leorio still hadn't showed up by the time Kurapika got there, and Abby was pissed. He was supposed to help her get ready for a party that night.
"How could he do this to me! He promised he would be here! I am going to kill him!" Abby steamed. Kurapika took a step back. He didn't feel like getting hit by Abby.
"Hey, calm down, okay? I can do whatever Leorio should be doing. Just breathe." Kurapika put his hands on Abby's arms, trying to calm her down.
Abby took a couple deep breaths until her face was back to normal. She closed her eyes and put her head in Kurapika's shoulder. "Thanks." She mumbled into his shirt. Kurapika wrapped his arms around her, and they sat there like that for a while.
"Okay!" Abby shouted after a while, pulling away from Kurapika. "I need you to get decorations. It's a baby shower, so lots of pink and blues." Abby went on and on while Kurapika wrote down everything he needed to pick up.
"Got it. Anything else?" Kurapika asked when Abby was done.
"No. Thanks, you're a lifesaver!" Abby smiled at Kurapika, then pushed him out the door, laughing.
Kurapika got everything he was asked to, then went back to the restaurant. The party was early the next morning, so after closing up, the two decorated so it was ready in the morning.
"Thank you so so so so so much!" Abby hugged Kurapika as she thanked him. "You have no idea how much this means to me."
Kurapika hugged her back. "Hey, what are friends for?"
They two pulled apart and said their goodbyes. Kurapika went home, and tried to sleep. Abby went to check on Leorio.
When Abby reached Leorio's apartment, Leorio was sitting on the kitchen floor, holding a bottle of wine. It was half empty, but there was another bottle laying on the ground.
"What happened?" Abby asked, mortified. She ran to Leorio's side, and ripped the bottle out of his hands.
"Abby!" He shouted, hugging Abby. She patted his back then squirmed to get out of his embrace.
"Hey! That's enough. Now, tell me. What the hell happened here?" She shouted, motioning to the living room.
"Don't yell. It hurts my head." Leorio mumbled as he slumped against the cabinets.
"Leorio. Tell me what's wrong. I'm here for you, whatever it is." Abby soothed. She ruffled his hair, then kissed his head gently.
"You're going to move on. Forget about me. And Kurapika will too. Then I'll be alone." Leorio began to sob, and Abby just cradled him.
"Is that why you bought all this....stuff?" Abby glanced at the living room, then shivered. It was so full, it made her feel like the walls were closing in.
"Yeah. It just feels so empty in here, ya know?" He sniffled.
"No, not really. Come on, let's get you in bed. I'll leave a glass of water and an ibuprofen on the dresser, and when you wake up you'll feel a lot better. I promise."
Abby half carried Leorio into his bedroom, much like Kurapika had the night before. She tucked him in, and before she knew it, Leorio was asleep again. She left the ibuprofen and water on his bedside table, then ruffled his hair.
"Good night Leorio." She said, turning off the light.
Leorio woke up shortly after Abby left. He fell out of bed, then laid there until the room stopped spinning.
After much of a struggle, Leorio was headed out the door. He walked, no, more like stumbled, to the nearest Walmart.
Leorio walked around for a while, looking at random stuff on the shelves. Then he came upon a lamp. He took off the shade, and put it on his head. He then ran around the store, and kids laughed and pointed as he ran past.
Leorio ran for a couple of minutes, but then came across a woman. The woman reminded him so much of his mother that he got on his knees in front of her and begged her to get him some candy.
The woman screamed, and Leorio covered his ears. He then ran, the lamp shade falling off his head. He ran home, and fell asleep on the couch.
"Night Abby. Night Kurapika." He muttered as he passed out, once again. He wouldn't remember what happened by the time he woke up.Hey guys! Sorry if the mood changed towards the end, my dog had to go to the vet so I kind of rushed it. Well, thanks for reading! Please vote and comment! He
