Leorio sobered up immediately. As soon as he felt Kurapika go limp in his arms, the fog that once crowded his brain dissipated. He wanted to cry, shout, and laugh all at the same time.
"Wha-what happened?" Leorio cried, laying Kurapika down. "He was fine a second ago!"
"You know what, he was nervous. That's probably what happened. The nerves got to him. Yeah." Abby rambled.
"Put his head up and... and get him some water!" Ella suggested. She ran to the kitchen to get a cup of water while Abby and Leorio fussed over Kurapika.
When Ella came back she had a damp towel along with a glass of cold water. Kurapika's head was propped up on a pillow, and color was beginning to return to his face.
Leorio dabbed the towel on Kurapika's head with one hand, and rubbed his fingers through his hair with the other. Abby and Ella sat around them, watching quietly.
After a while Ella began to hum. The melody was slow and sad, depressing even. Not that anybody would blame her, she lost her brother so recently, it's just that, because of the circumstances, it seemed unnecessary.
"Would you stop? Please. Please, I'm sorry. Just... never mind. Continue." Leorio rambled. He wrung his fingers through Kurapika's and squeezed. "I'm here. Just wake up. Please." He whispered in his ear. Abby smiled sadly and Ella began to hum again, quieter this time.
After a couple of minutes Kurapika's eyes began to flutter. "Turn off the light." He groaned, and rolled into Leorio. His eyes flew open, and he stared into the tall man's eyes. "Le- Leorio!" Kurapika sat up, leaning away, then looking down at his hands, still wrapped in Leorio's.
"Hey, calm down. It's okay." Leorio stroked Kurapika's cheek, and both of their faces went bright red. Abby and Ella looked away, giving the two some privacy.
"Did I actually do that? Please say it was just a dream." Kurapika cringed. Leorio looked at him for a second, confused.
"What do you... oh. Yeah, it happened." He whispered. "But, I'm glad it did. Happy New Year, Kurapika."
Kurapika froze, then the second part of what Leorio said hit him. He was glad it happened. Kurapika's chest exploded with joy, and he flew into Leorio's arms, wrapping him in a hug.
"Thanks Abby!" He called, smiling at her over Leorio's shoulder. She smiled back and gave him a thumbs up, then her and Ella went back to talking about whatever it was they were talking about, though neither Leorio nor Kurapika really cared.
"Don't you dare do that ever again!" Leorio scolded once the two pulled apart. Kurapika laughed lightly, and Leorio's face went red for a brief moment, but then he joined Kurapika.
"What's so funny over there?" Abby asked, wiggling her eyebrows.
"Nothing..." Kurapika and Leorio said at the same time, making them laugh harder.
Abby shook her head, then stood up. She ruffled the boy's hair and went to the kitchen, and before long was blending something. Kurapika and Leorio stood up, curious, and snuck up behind her.
"Whattcha making?" Leorio asked, peering over her shoulder.
"None of your business!" She teased, pushing him out of the way playfully.
"Hey!" Leorio called, and Abby let go of the blender so she could wrestle Leorio. While the two were wrestling, Kurapika had a chance to see what Abby was making. As soon as he saw the contents he gasped, and Leorio and Abby paused, mid-wrestle."What is it? What is Abby making?" He shoved Abby off of him, and she landed on the ground with a thud, but began to laugh.
"Milkshakes!" Kurapika said loudly, smiling. Leorio whooped.
"Okay, okay, you got me. Yes, I'm making milkshakes, but if you don't get out of here you're not getting any!" She warned, and shooed them out of the room.
"Dang." Leorio mumbled, and sat down on the couch, waiting for his reward.Hey guys! Like I said, sorry for the delay. Please vote and comment!
