"At least let me make breakfast!" Leorio complained to Abby. They had been arguing because Abby insisted on making all the food for thanksgiving.
"What would you make? You can't even make brownies!" Abby shot back. She began to laugh, remembering that day.
"That doesn't count! I'll make toast, that's easy!" Leorio suggested.
Abby sighed. "Fine. But if you burn the toast I will never trust you to cook again!"
Leorio bodded, a smile on his face. "I can do that!"
Abby smiled. "Okay. Goodnight Leorio." She gave him a hug before going home.
When Kurapika and Abby showed up the next morning Leorio was already in the kitchen. He had cleared out the fridge and bought pants a size and a half too big. The table was set and the kitchen cleaned. He was determined to make that thanksgiving the best one yet.
It wasn't long until a crash came from the kitchen. Kurapika was on his feet in an instant, ready to help if he was needed.
"What happened?" Abby asked, hearing a string of curse words come from Leorio. "Are you okay?"
"No, I'm not!" Leorio yelled, screaming some colorful words.
"What happened?" Kurapika shouted, staring at Leorio, who was rolling on the floor, clutching his arm. Kurapika dropped to his knees, forcing Leorio to stop rolling.
"The damn toaster scared me!" Leorio shouted, tears now forming in his eyes. "I was watching for the toast, and it popped. I got scared and fell. I think it's broken!" Tears began to pour from his eyes and he bit down on his tongue to keep from screaming.
"Abby, get his jacket!" Kurapika called. She immediately rushed to where his coat was sitting.
"Leorio, I know it's going to hurt, but I need you to stand up. We'll take you to the hospital."
"I think I'll just stay here, on the floor." Leorio said, but seeing Kurapika's face changed his mind. "C'mon, it's thanksgiving! I can wait until tomorrow. I'll make a sling until then." Leorio complained.
"Get up Leorio." Kurapika began to pull on Leorio's uninjured arm. "Leorio, I will get you up if it's the last thing I do!" Kurapika threatened.
Abby was now standing in the doorway with Leorio's coat. "We'll take my car." She held up a pair of keys. Kurapika nodded.
"Come help me with Leorio."
By the time Leorio was in the car he was almost passed out. He had bit his tongue so hard it was bleeding, and he kept apologizing for ruining thanksgiving.
"You burnt the toast." Abby laughed, trying to cheer Leorio up. "You can't be trusted to cook anymore."
"Clearly." Leorio rolled his eyes and leaned on Kurapika for support. "It hurts." He whispered.
"I know. I'm right here." Kurapika whispered back as he rubbed Leorio's back, his heart aching.
Upon approaching the hospital Leorio turned white. He had been there so many times with these two. It almost seemed like a second home at this point, he'd spent so many nights in it sitting by his friends side. This time he would be the one in the bed though.
Leorio broke his arm in three places. He got a plain white cast, that way he'd look more professional. "I'm such a fucking idiot." Leorio laughed on the way home.
"What's new?" Abby asked, causing everyone to laugh.
"Well, happy thanksgiving I guess. I'm just glad you guys were there, otherwise I'd probably still be on the floor." Leorio laughed.
"Happy thanksgiving Leorio!" Abby and Kurapika cheered in unisonHey guys! Happy thanksgiving! I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I didn't have internet access. I only have a short period of time that I have access to internet tonight, but I promise I'll post some other time this week. Make sure to vote and comment!
