The group tried to stay awake all night, but eventually fell asleep. By four in the morning, Leorio's apartment was quiet, and the only sound was the occasional snore.
Abby slept on one couch, Ella on the other. Kurapika and Leorio lay on the chair, hand in hand, though neither of them knew it. It was just an old habit, holding each other as they slept. It had been a while, but as they say, old habits die hard.
It was almost noon by the time the first person woke up, and that person was Abby. She smiled when she saw Kurapika and Leorio, and kissed both of their foreheads before going to make breakfast for everyone.
Ella was up shortly after, and the two smiled as Kurapika buried his face in Leorio's chest.
Abby and Ella drank some coffee, and it was two hours later when Kurapika finally woke up. His cheeks went bright red when he saw Abby and Ella staring at him. He got up sheepishly, and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Morning." He said, his cheeks still a deep shade of red. He grabbed the steaming cup of coffee Abby slid towards him, and took a sip. "What time is it?" He asked, rubbing his eyes.
"Two in the afternoon. Sleepyhead." Abby laughed, and Ella joined in. Kurapika shook his head, chuckling.
"I guess so, huh?" He smiled, looking back at Leorio quickly.
"So... how'd you sleep?" Ella teased, nudging Kurapika.
"You know, that chair can be pretty lumpy." Kurapika played along. Abby smiled, watching as the two continued messing with each other.
"Keep it down! I have a headache!" Leorio yelled from the living room, covering his eyes. Kurapika got up and closed the blinds, and Abby turned off all the lights. "Thanks." He mumbled, burying his face into the arm of the chair.
Leorio stayed asleep until dark, and when he finally got up he had a pounding headache. Abby got him some ibuprofen, and Ella got him a glass of water.
"How long have you guys been up?" Leorio asked groggily as Abby passed him a steamy cup of coffee.
"Well, I've been up since about noon, and Ella was up shortly after me." Abby said.
"And I woke up at about two." Kurapika finished.
"What time is it now?" Leorio asked, surprised at how late the others woke up, knowing they had been up for a while.
"Well," Ella said, checking her watch. "About five-thirty." She smiled smugly as Leorio groaned, putting his head in his hands.
"Hungry?" Abby asked, passing Leorio a plate, an enchilada laying on top of it.
"Do you need to ask?" Leorio mumbled, already shoving piles of food into his mouth. Abby, Ella, and Kurapika just laughed.
Abby and Ella went home, and shortly after Kurapika did too. Leorio cleaned up, then had another cup of coffee and went to bed.
Leorio woke up early the next day and stopped at Abby's restaurant. He was dressed up, wearing his best suit and tie.
"Hey Abby! How do I look?" He asked, adjusting his tie.
"You look great! What's the occasion?" She questioned, raising her eyebrow.
"Well... let's just say you'll find out soon." Leorio smiled nervously.
"Okay?" Abby said, but it was more of a question. "Good luck with... whatever it is you're up to." Abby smiled.
"Thanks." Leorio pulled Abby into a hug, then shook his arms. "See you later."
"Yeah. Later." Abby waved to Leorio. Her eyebrow was still in an arc. She didn't know what Leorio was up to, but could tell it was definitely bothering him.
Leorio got back to his house as fast as he could. He paced around the living room, too nervous to sit for even a second. He kept adjusting his tie, or running his fingers through his hair.
After about twenty minutes, though it felt more like an hour to Leorio, Kurapika arrived. Leorio rubbed his face, then took his coat and hung it.
"How are you?" He asked, his voice shaking slightly.
"Good, I guess. You?" He asked, just as curious as Abby was. "I'm sorry but... what's with the suit?"
"Well, I have something to ask you. Um... sit down." Leorio led Kurapika to the living room and the two took a seat on the couch.
"What's up?" Kurapika asked. He searched Leorio's face for any clue on what may be going on inside his head.
"Well," Leorio began. "Would you like to go on a date?"
