"Excuse me... what?" Kurapika's mouth hung open, though he was slightly smiling. "O- of course I would!" He hugged Leorio, and suddenly Kurapika felt like he was flying.
Leorio let out the breath he didn't know he was holding. The weight on his shoulders lifted, only to be replaced again. Now they would have to figure out a time and a place, and everything would have to go smoothly. He just had to make everything perfect for Kurapika. Only for Kurapika.
Leorio smiled, and the two began to discuss the details. They set a date, two days from then, on a Friday night, a time, six o'clock p.m., and decided that Leorio would be picking Kurapika up from his apartment. Kurapika wouldn't know where Leorio would be taking him until the day of.
Kurapika left, and Leorio immediately called Abby.
"Hey! What's up?" She asked. Leorio heard people from the dining room chatting, so he knew she was still at work.
"Well... I asked Kurapika out!" He smiled as he said it. It just sounded right.
Abby squealed so loud Leorio had to move his phone away from his ear. "Thanks for the damage to my eardrums." He teased.
"My pleasure." Abby played along. Her voice was light, and Leorio could hear the smile on her face. "So, when's the date?" Abby asked eagerly.
Leorio told Abby all the details, and they talked for an hour about the smaller details. Abby wanted to make sure everything went perfect almost as much as Leorio did.
By Friday Leorio's nerves were beginning to get to him. Abby had helped him pick out an outfit, and Kurapika threw on a suit Abby had given him.
Abby fixed Leorio's tie and handed him the bouquet he was to give to Kurapika. Her smile was almost as big as Leorio's. Ella sat on Leorio's couch, making calls.
"Quit fidgeting!" Abby scolded, slapping Leorio's arm. She then began to smooth the wrinkles that appeared because of it.
"Hey! I'm nervous, okay?" He tried to rub his arm, but Abby swatted his hand away.
"Don't touch. Just stand there, okay? I'm almost done." Abby beamed as she finished up the last little touches. Leorio sighed as Abby pushed him in front of the full-length mirror she brought over. "So, what do you think? Is it good?" Abby asked, already knowing the answer.
"Wow." Was all Leorio had to say. He was wearing a deep blue suit, unbuttoned, with a white undershirt, no tie. Abby was aiming for a 'classy, but casual' look. He did some poses in front of the mirror, then hugged Abby.
"Hey! Where's mine?" Ella asked as she stood up and put an arm around Leorio's shoulder. "I helped too ya know!" She laughed, and Leorio hugged her, too.
"I couldn't have done this without you guys!" He said as he pulled them into a group hug. "Now, I have a date to get to." He beamed as he flew out the door.
Traffic was pretty bad, but Ella and Abby had planned for that. They made Leorio leave early so he could be at Kurapika's apartment on time. For the time being, Leorio turned on some music to help drown out his thoughts.
Leorio pulled into the parking lot earlier than expected, so he ran over some things they might talk about in his head. They could talk about the day they met, their first, first date, or about school. They could act completely normal, and just sit in a comfortable silence, too. As long as nothing painful from their past relationship came up, it would be the best night of Leorio's life.
After a while Leorio looked in the mirror one last time, then went up to meet Kurapika. He had the flowers Abby had handed to him, and hid them partially behind his back.
Leorio climbed the stairs and made the journey down the hall to Kurapika's apartment. He stopped in front of the door, took a deep breath, and knocked.Hey guys! I know it's not my normal posting day, but it's my birthday so I was feeling generous. I'm not sure if I'll be posting tomorrow still or not, but I'll try. Make sure to vote and comment!
