Chapter 10

"Welcome to the headquarters." Said a middle aged man sporting glasses, a fedora and a magenta suit.

Rider yawned and said "Hi old man, I got L/N Y/N here."

"Good job Rider, though I would appreciate it if you came here on time and if you would stop calling me old."

Rider just nodded at that.

"So I take it that you are the leader of the snipers?" I said since he is the one who welcomed me and also the one who is standing in the middle of the members.

"Yes, I am Wolf, the leader of the snipers, please follow me and do as I say, don't worry I am not going to kill you or punish you."

They always use simple names, I guess there's no harm in that, but still.

So Rider and I followed him into this white walled room with sofas and desks in it and sat down with Wolf facing us on the opposite sofa.

"So I am just going to ask you guys some questions to find out what happened."

Rider took the front seat this time and told him most parts of the story. After he finished, they both looked at me expecting me to tell them my part of the story.

I finished talking about all the things I experienced recently and they both nodded.

Rider spoke up about how he think I would be the perfect candidate, wait what did he mean by perfect candidate.

"Ah yes, you are right, she would be the perfect candidate as her age and ability to blend in aligns with everything we planned."

I just whipped my head around over and over, not getting what they're trying to get me into.

"Uhhh, so what are you guys talking about? I am pretty sure that it involves me being the perfect vessel for you guys or something."

Rider said "You got it half right, we aren't going to use you as a vessel. In fact we are going to use you as an information collector for heroic information."

"So you want me to get into UA and get information? Man, I hope you guys aren't planning some sinister plan to take over the world."

"Don't worry, we aren't, in fact it is just that there's been some strange stuff going on in UA lately and you are the only one who can get in without force."

"By strange stuff, do you mean the shadow clan's movements?"

"Yes, I hope you will accept this task as we really need help from someone who can get in UA without causing suspicion."

"What's in there for me then?"

"This will be your 'part time job', we can offer you at least some money."

"Oh by the way, I think we will need to train you a bit since you being on our team means that you will need to defend yourself sometimes."

"Now that you said that, I want to ask if this job is dangerous at all?"

"It shouldn't be unless you offend some hero course student or villain. Just in general, don't get in trouble, try to blend in with the background."

"Okay. So you said I just have to get into UA, yes? Then does it mean that what course I take does not matter?"

"Yes, we don't care about what course you take as long as you can get some information on the shadow clan while you are at UA."

"Are there other things I would need to do in my job?"

"Not much, but sometimes we will ask you to do small tasks."

I weighed the options in my head, I don't think I will choose the hero course, support course or the business course as I am not particularly smart or strong, so I'll just go for the regular general course. I guess learning stuff to defend myself would be cool. But of course the best part is that they will pay me. I decided that I'll just go along with the flow and accept the job.

"I think I will accept this job."

Rider turnt around and smiled at me saying that he knew I would accept it. Jokes on him, I accepted it due to the money, not because of his pathetic attempts at trying to get me to join the group.

Wolf scratched his scalp and said "Great, perhaps I shall give you this pager for a better way of communication between us."

He handed me a black pager and said that I can use it anytime to communicate with the group as long as no one gets ahold of it.

I dropped it inside my bag and decided to check it out later.

"Is that all?" I asked. He nodded at that.

We shook hands then I left with Rider right behind me.

"So I assume you will be escorting me again?"

"Yea I will, I have nothing to do anyways."

I smirked, "So are you implying that you have no life?"

"I-"

"Anyways, let's go back!"

His eyes softened and said "L/N, I am glad to finally have someone about my age in this group full of old-fart leaders."

I fist bumped him.

"You're welcome, my dude."
