That is Rider/Mizuno Kukai on his hoverboard in case you didn't know, I drew it by the way, so don't steal it lol (I spent more than 4 hours on this, so I beg of you to not steal it), not that I can actually control you. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what he looks like. By the way, this story is also available on Quotev if you don't know already, you can search for it by either typing my username or this story's name since they're the same on both websites! Thanks for reading!
It's finally time for the UA sports festival. Shinso and I sat down in our class' section waiting for the announcements that indicate the start of the first round to blast out while Mizuno went off to somewhere to sell her food to the audience as a management course student. Was this just a way for the school to earn even more money? Probably. But oh well, UA burns through so much money every year just to make sure facilities are built and what not for its students, in particular the hero course students.
Noises were heard above the stage, which meant that people were starting to filter into the sports ground. Seeing so many people at once made me feel anxious, I expected to feel nervous but experiencing the real thing really hits different!
Looking over at Shinso, I realised that his face did not show any signs of nervousness, rather I saw a steeled face warrior ready to take on the festival. Even if his face didn't show his nervousness, his tightly clasped hands showed that he felt anxious in some way or form.
Gulping, I tried to comfort Shinso in the most friendly way possible. But having not much experience in these kind of things made my sentence sound jumbled, so at the end I just settled for a thumbs up.
"You'll do fine."
Shinso just nodded back in thankfulness before the announcement for class 1C to appear had graced my ears.
We both stood up along with our classmates and headed to the sports ground where billions of eyes were staring.
~
I was amused at the fact that each class had such a dramatic entrance, it was like we were fighting in an actual anime or something, we just need that suspenseful OST playing in the background.
The crowds were cheering loudly and passionately. I realised that while most of the time the UA sports festival is filled to the brim with people, the first year stage has never been this full. If I had to guess, it probably had to do with class 1A gaining so much attention from the USJ incident. The attention made me want to dig a hole and bury myself even though I knew the attention wasn't directed to me. Well, technically Rider said he might be watching, but if I had to guess, it was for his sister and entertainment reasons.
It slightly triggered me that class 1A got the special treatment in terms of entrances, it was like they were the star of the first year stage of the sports festival. Present Mic purposefully let them enter first with a dedicated introduction to them, while he just lumped together the other classes in a carefree matter. Personally, I didn't feel that offended, but this biased introduction probably ignited or intensified the hate for class 1A from some individuals...
Searching around the field, periwinkle eyes met my gaze. Yup, Monoma was definitely hating the amount of attention class 1A was getting from the audience. A pretty ginger girl stood next to him with a frown, probably not approving of Monoma's outwardly hate for class 1A. Oh well, it's not my business, I shall not stick my nose into it.
That's when Midnight the scantily dressed hero slapped her flogger-style whip against the ground.
"Now for the athlete's oath!!"
The students pretty much ignored her and discussed why she was here instead of the principle, but the real big question was that is she allowed to dress like this on a tv programme that some young children were probably watching? Oh well, if she's on the stage right now, it's probably allowe—
"Pipe down! Your student representative is...." Snapped Midnight as she clearly got enough of the students ignoring her in favour of their own interests.
Who is it going to be? It would most likely be a student from the hero course seeing as this school is the most famous for the heroes it produced.
"From class 1A, Bakugo Katsuki!"
I immediately twisted my head around to and fro to find the aforementioned student representative. That's when I saw a blond boy sporting hair that resembled an explosion trekking towards the direction of the stage, all the while shoving people aside to get to the stage. Rude. Speaking of rude, it reminded me of how he acted a few days ago when Shinso declared war on class 1A, was he always this rude? No wonder my classmates never liked him much.
"Must be because he placed first in the entrance exam." Said a random student from the crowd.
Ah, so that's why he got chose——
"The hero course entrance exam, you mean." Jutted in my classmate.
Man, she sounded really salty, though I don't blame her with how rude Bakugo has been to others in general.
"The athlete's oath..." muttered Bakugo.
"I'm going to take first place! Make no mistake about it."
The students around me started voicing out their disapproval and hatred over class 1A.
"You'll all make great stepping stones I'd say." Said Bakugo as he flicked his thumb in front of his throat.
Wow, this guy sure is confident in his abilities, but to be that confident must mean that he must be somewhat good at fighting or something. I would never get to his level of overconfidence, so I guess that's one of the things that he has going for him.
While I admired the dude for his confidence, my classmates seemed to voice out their shock and comments over Bakugo's speech just now.
I feel as if Bakugo's speech fired up multiple peers of mine to work harder in the festival to beat him. I don't know if he did that on purpose, but if he did, it seemed to be working in his favour.
"Now, without delay, let's get the first event started!" Announced Midnight as she looked at the screen placed conveniently behind her.
I laughed to myself garnering weirded out stares, the screen behind her was so UA-esque because it's so extra. Of course, UA would use such a screen, it's extra enough to gather attention and I suppose it has its own entertainment value.
Names kept going and returning on the screen as everyone waited for the first event to pop up.
"And the fateful first event this year is this!" Shouted Midnight as she pointed towards the screen bearing the name of the first event.
It was 'Obstacle Course Race'. Hmm, okay, it shouldn't be that hard to lose in this round, I just need to reach the finish line really slowly.
"It's a race between every member of all eleven classes! The course is a four-kilometer lap around the stadium itself! Our school preaches freedom in all things! So as long as you don't go off the course, anything is fair game!"
~
Everyone stepped up to the race entrance and prepared themselves for the competition.
"Racers, to your positions..."
I shifted back a bit, making sure that my starter position is at the last of the last.
"Go!!!"
That started the rampage of students that dashed to the front or ran past me. I waited for some time until most of the students were gone to start jogging out slowly.
"(L/N)!" A hand gently tapped my shoulder as I ran slowly to the front to 'catch up' with the other contestants.
I looked beside me only to see Shinso sitting on his cavalry thing made up of individuals, with only one spot missing.
"Wha—"
