"Participants will, on their own, form teams of two to four members each and get into a horse and rider formation! The rules are basically the same as those of an ordinary cavalry battle, snag your opponents' headbands while guarding your own! Each of you has been assigned a point based on your ranking in the last event, so the point value of each team depends on its members! Your individual point values start at five from the bottom, so the student who took 42nd place is worth five points, 41st is worth ten points... get it? Automatically that makes our first place, Midoriya Izuku, worth ten million points!"
At that moment, every participant on the stage turned their head towards a certain direction. Following their gazes, my eyes landed on a bush. Wait, a bush? I squinted my eyes and the image became clear before me.
Ah, so it was broccoli boy who got first place. I felt bad for him as I could tell from the ominous glint present in most of the participants' eyes on the stage, they all seemed to plan to go after him and snag his points. It might even prove to be hard for him to find group members as I am pretty sure no one wants to be constantly chased by a huge crowd of enemies.
I patted myself on the back in relief.
Good job me. I actually prevented myself from having to compete with powerful and victory-hungry super-powered humans.
"The higher-ranked students are the ones to aim for! This survival game is a chance for a comeback, it's anyone's game!"
The higher ranked students are the ones to aim for?
I stared at Midnight in confusion with a raised eyebrow.
If I were one of the participants, I would have went for the lower ranked students while they were distracted with grabbing the headbands from the higher ranked students, maybe remain hidden amongst the chaos until the very end.
Oh well, I suppose everyone has different strategies, so I can't exactly complain. Plus, her encouragement might even act as a fuel for the other contestants to actually aim for the higher ranked students, leaving hopefully some individuals to go after the distracted students and gain points slowly but surely.
"Most importantly, even if your headband is taken and even if your horse formation is broken, it's not over until it is over! Quirks are allowed, so it'll be a brutal battle! However, it's still a cavalry battle! Maliciously attacking another team with the intent of making them fall will get you a red card and that means you're out of the game! You've got 15 minutes! Time to form your teams!"
With that, most of the participants on stage started moving towards their favoured potential teammate. In particular, most of them seemed to crowd around a figure with porcupine like blond hair, he must be strong if they were so desperately attempting to recruit him into their respective teams as he doesn't seem to be the most corporative, which would prove to be a hard obstacle to bypass in events such as this one that require a good amount of teamwork between teammates.
Upon a closer look, I realised that most of the hero course students stuck to their own classmates when grouping up, which had me wondering if teaming up with students from the other classes would make a good impression on the pro heroes spectating as it shows one's willingness to work with an 'enemy' under special circumstances.
Hearing the sounds of graphite scratching against the surface of paper, I looked to my right and saw Mizuno noting down some stuff with the paper lying flat against the bench. I tried to lean in closer to see what it was that she was so concentrated on. Turns out it was 'Management course Sports festival report'.
Sensing my prolonged gaze on her, she shifted her body and faced me.
"Yea, my management teacher asked all the management course students to do these."
