Students and teachers whizzed around preparing for the school's annual cultural festival. You might be wondering why the students were trying their best to improve their classrooms, it's totally just because there would be a reward if that class did well and that it was obligatory.
I was one of the students who wasn't in a club, so I was assigned to help out in my classroom. Originally, my class planned to do a cafe of some kind, but we weren't quick enough to grab the available spots to be able to cook. I wasn't really against the idea, it was simple and easy to do, but it was so generic and I think the other classes in the school also had that idea in their minds.
At the end, it was Kaneko Arisu who shouted out her idea, which was to create a life sized maze in the classroom. It was actually not a bad idea, so everyone agreed to it.
I was assigned to the decoration group along with the other more artistic students. It wasn't bad I suppose, but they didn't really bother to listen to my idea so I just let them be. The school festival actually had a theme and it was constellations, my class was assigned to the constellation 'Orion'. It was a cool theme, but I felt like my classmates wasted it, they didn't bother to utilise Orion's backstory, instead they just decided to spray paint everything galaxy themed. I could already tell that our classroom was going to look generic and almost the same as the other classrooms in the school, but oh well, I couldn't just up and control people.
The decoration group students decided that I would be no use to the general discussion about the decoration of the classroom, so they asked me to slap the posters advertising my class' maze around the school. They were basically telling me that I didn't contribute, but honestly I did, they just didn't listen.
After finishing the task of mindlessly slapping the posters onto the school bulletin boards, it was finally my lunch break time. I was tired of people not listening to my ideas and being noisy, so I grabbed my backpack and just went out to a secluded place in the school to read a book. The secluded place was basically under the tree behind the school, it wasn't really that hard to find, but people never bother to come here. So it automatically became a place I frequent to whenever my classmates were being too unbearable.
I was shoving a sandwich bought from the school's tuck shop into my mouth when Nakamura came over and interrupted me.
"Would you mind if I hide here for a while? Another eavesdropper is on to me and I don't have the mental capacity to deal with her."
"Sure?"
Nakamura took that as an invitation and sat down right next to me.
"Thanks."
".... You're welcome."
Silence filled the air. It wasn't the type of silence that was suffocating, it was the comfortable type of silence accompanied with the occasional sounds of cars moving on the road.
"Would you mind if I get your number?"
I quirked an eyebrow at that.
"I wouldn't mind but why would you need it in the first place?"
"The eavesdroppers are getting annoying and you seem like a good escape route."
Ah, so he only wanted my number because I was a good solution towards his eavesdroppers. Eh, I am fine with it, but this seemed awfully play boy like and I know that Nakamura is not that type of guy.
"What would your fan base think of this?"
"I don't care about what they think of me."
"Cool."
I returned to reading my book and wrapped up the leftover sandwich after that. I felt someone's gaze on me and I looked over to see that Nakamura was eyeing that sandwich. He looked away immediately after that, I must have caught him in the act of staring. He usually doesn't stare at people, so there must be another reason why he was eyeing that sandwich. Ah, was he hungry or something? Screw it!
