Getting interrupted when sketching some random human with a fighting pose is not fun, but seeing as it is Mizuno who interrupted me, I feel fine with it.
"Ooooo, the drawing looks pretty cool."
Serotonin and pride filled me when I heard that, it's not often that I got complemented for my drawings at school, even though I was considered a good artist in my class. Sometimes even if you are considered good, it also depends on your popularity and art-style to get complemented by classmates. Plus, Mizuno actually didn't ask me to draw her when she saw my sketch of a woman fighting with her fists, that's a plus one for me.
"Uh thanks, though I have not finished this yet and I still have to fix a few places since her arm looks broken. Anyways, what are you here for?"
Mizuno eyed the stack of papers in her arms, glanced at her watch and then looked at me.
"Please help me stick these up on all the bulletin boards around the school. I am in a bit of a rush here and honestly I need some help since the teacher demanded to have these up by the time lunch break ends."
That teacher honestly had bad planning skills or he or she wanted to torture Mizuno. I shoved the piece of paper I was sketching on into my drawer and then replied her with yes. Mizuno looked relieved when she heard that.
"Well, here's your half, stick these up on the bulletin boards on the ground floor and first floor please. I will be dealing with the second and third floor, while Shinso will be dealing with the fourth floor and the passage that leads to the middle school section. Thanks for the help!"
She split up her stack of paper into half, gave the second half to me and then skipped away quickly. I started going down to the ground floor while slapping the posters on to the bulletin boards in the stairway section. The posters were promoting the fact that the students have the option to vote for some things related to the student council. Honestly, I don't think any student would ever bother to vote unless a teacher forces them to. But I continued to mindlessly slap the posters on to the bulletin boards on the ground floor.
I was almost finished with the ground floor and that's when I realised I needed to get a poster on to the bulletin board near the school office. I never liked interacting with the office workers, they always seem to be on a rush, so whenever you try to talk to them, they would act like you are wasting their time. Oh well, I can't complain, they keep the school functioning after all.
I finished the ground floor and got to the bulletin board in my sister's classroom, which is located on the first floor. My sister is the type to have a lot of friends since she does follow trends. So when I entered her classroom, some of her classmates just looked at me and then looked away. Ah, what an uncomfortable feeling, they probably know that I am her sister. On the topic of my sister, she probably went to the bathroom or something since I don't see her in the classroom. When I reached the exit of the classroom, I expected the uneasy feeling to leave me after I finished my duty, but somehow it didn't. I felt something tugging at my conscience, so I traced the direction of the tugging and my eyes landed on the alley opposite the school. I felt a strong sense of Deja Vu as this seemed to have already happened around a week ago, is someone stalking me or is it just my imaginatio—
"Uh, hello to (L/N)- senpai?" Said a student as she waved her arms around.
Ah, that snapped me from my thoughts. I realised while I was squinting at the alley in suspicion, I just stood there blocking the classroom's exit. It also didn't help that there was a student who sat near the spot I was staring at intensively, he must have thought I was staring at him due to the angle. With him sporting a flushed face while looking away, I deducted that I must have caused him embarrassment. That's unfortunate, I pray that the rumours will not fly up in the school, but the students in the classroom looking at me proved me otherwise.
"Oh, um hi there! I was just thinking about some things just now and didn't realise that I was blocking the way out, sorry!" I replied with a voice crack as I slowly turned around with an awkward smile pasted on my face, then started speed walking to the next bulletin board with clammy fingers and a face that's flaming hot. As I walked away, I literally heard some people teasing that poor student back in that classroom. Oh the shame! My reputation is as bad as it is and now I ruined someone else's!
After a while of ducking my head down to avoid eye contact, I finally got through the entirety of the first floor and returned to my classroom.
I fetched a book out to read seeing as I had some time left to spare and that reading a book automatically creates a barrier between people.
And that's when I realised that the uneasy feeling left me already, I must have been too busy worrying about the incident in my ashamed state to realise that the feeling left me some time ago. I glanced at the alley through the windows and it looked so normal, it's like nothing ever happened in the first pla—
The bell rang and I shrugged off all the thoughts in my head to concentrate on the lesson.
~
The sounds of the television and utensils clanging filled the air. I was shoving rice into my mouth when my sister opened her mouth.
"So I heard my classmates talking about you today at lunch break."
I kicked myself mentally in my head for starting another rumour unintentionally and now I got to face the consequences.
"This is about how I was blocking the doorway to your classroom, yes?"
"Yea, you were staring at Nakamura or at least that's what my classmates were saying."
Oh, so that's what his last name is.
"I actually wasn't staring at him. I was thinking about stuff whilst looking out of the window placed near Nakamura. It was just a mere coincidence that it looked like I was staring at him. I promise I was not."
"I trust you but my classmates already started to talk about this, so I can't do anything to help you."
I don't think my sister can do anything to help me in the first place nor would she want to help me. It just bends the laws of nature if she wants to help me.
"Well, is Nakamura okay then? I literally ruined his reputation or something with that incident."
"I don't know since he doesn't really talk to people, but he seemed to have shrugged the embarrassment off after a while. It does help that he doesn't seem like the type to attract attention to himself on purpose."
"Well, that's nice. I am pretty sure the rumours will fly up tomorrow. I hope Nakamura can survive it."
With that, I stood up, placed all of my utensils into the sink and left for my room.
