MIA
Thank God schools have a dress code. If they did not, I'd have squandered hours on end, singularly deciding what to wear. The same goes for the dress code for frat parties as well - the ones I wouldn't have to attend, along with Savannah now every other weekend. I have never gotten drunk at a frat house more than once. It is the adversest location to get drunk if you are not a college student. You have no other option but to have a solo sleepover since everyone is passed out. My first and exclusive encounter of getting drunk at a frat party; was the gravest anyone could have ever had. It was the third frat party, I think. But the first frat party I had gone to was fun since I had gotten to wear Savannah's clothes which she usually didn't allow me to even touch. She's possessive about her clothes. It was a rare occurrence for me to be able to wear her clothes.
"So, where is this party, Savannah?" I ask as Savannah is wearing clothes and drying her hair out.
"It is at a frat house."
"What...? You go to frat parties!"
"Yeah. Blake's brother - Alex, is in college. Are you sure you want to go?"
I was not sure about it, but I am so confident about going now.
What happened that I am so confident about going?
Oliver said that I did not go to parties. That happened.
"Yeah, I am sure."
"Okay."
"So, why is Oliver so nasty and antagonistic?" I ask, straightening my hair out.
"Well, that's just Oliver being Oliver. At least you do not have to be around him most of the time." She replies.
"Why do you have to be around him most of the time?" I question.
"Because we are in the same school and go to the same parties. Oliver's elder brother - Noah, is also in college."
"Which year is he in?" I ask.
"Year 10 now. Valedictorian in Year 9." She returns.
"What? He is a valedictorian?" My eyes widen and I question in disbelief.
"Yes. Came to me as much as a surprise just as to you. Oliver has been the valedictorian ever since Year 6, just like you." She says.
"You are jesting, right?" I ask.
"Nope. Enough regarding Oliver. What are you going to wear?" She questions.
"I will wear one of my dresses with heels." I respond.
"Not happening. There is a dress code for frat parties. You are only supposed to wear crop tops with shorts and boots for the party."
"But I don't have any crop tops."
"Wear one of mine then." She says and fishes out a black crop top from her somewhat messy, somewhat organised closet.
"Okay." I say, taking the crop top from her hand and grabbing a pair of black denim shorts out of my suitcase.
"Let us get ready then." She says, and I change into my clothes in the dressing room next to her bathroom.
Call me old fashioned, but the clothes that Savannah dresses in are
unquestionably tiny.
"Are you sure I look good in this?" I ask, coming out of the dressing room.
"Yes. Trust me. You look ravishing." She says and enters the dressing room and shuts it, getting dressed.
"I am not used to wearing such short clothes. I will not be able to pull this look off even close to how good you are doing it."
"You are already looking gorgeous without makeup. All eyes are going to be on you tonight." She responds through the door without any hesitation, and I immediately reply, "That's what I do not want."
"Oh, come on. A little attention does not hurt anyone." She says, exiting the dressing room, and I reply instantly, "It sure does hurt me."
"Mia, you might even meet some of Oliver's friends." She states.
"I do not even want to be close to him or his friends."
"What has gotten you so riled up, Mia? He is not that bad."
"He is the biggest judgemental jerk I have ever met!" I almost yell.
"Calm down. I thought Aaron was the biggest jerk after he cheated on you." She says, placing her palms on my shoulders.
"What do you want to do with your hair?" I ask Savannah.
"I was considering straightening it out and leaving it down." She replies.
"You do look a lot more gorgeous with your hair down. Here, you can use my brush." I say, handing it to her after taking it out of my suitcase.
"Thanks!"
"No problem!"
"How do I look now?" I ask as she is doing her makeup.
"Elegant and sensual, which is a deadly combo, Mia!" She replies without hesitation, boosting my confidence slightly.
"Thanks. You look great too. Let us go. I am ready." I say.
"Me too. Let's get out of here. Frat house, here we come!!!"
"What time are we going to get back?"
"No idea. By 2, I think."
"What? Don't you have a curfew?"
"I do. But my mom doesn't seem to mind if I break it twice a month."
"Wow. Your mom is really cool." I am appalled.
"It has happened exclusively for senior year."
"My mom is not going to remove my curfew till graduation."
"That's bad. Let us enjoy these two weeks then."
"Yeah."
"Let's go."
I snap out of my thoughts when my mom shouts, "Mia! Five minutes and I want you downstairs, and you should be dressed!"
"Yeah, mom!" I shout back.
