OLIVER

Noah keeps teasing me, and it's exasperating and infuriating. It's either about Luke walking in on Mia and me making out, or about the bet Luke and Theresa made, or the picture that Mia clicked of me blushing.

I still don't know why I stiffen whenever Mia calls me baby or babe. I think it's because I don't know what to call her, and the fact that she's my first girlfriend. But today's conversation helped a lot. Neonata just fits her perfectly.

Noah snaps me out of saying that, "I am going get lunch from Burger King for all of us. You coming?" He asks.

"How do you know that Theresa hasn't made lunch for Mia, Luke and herself?" I ask, vexed by him for snapping me out of my reverie.

"I already asked her. If you weren't so busy dreaming about 'neonata', maybe you'd have noticed." He replies teasingly.

I groan and reply, "Fine. I'll come."

I unlock the car, and Noah sits in the drivers' seat making me scowl.

"C'mon, Oliver. I won't crash your beloved Range Rover. Give me the keys, please."

I throw the keys at him reluctantly and sit in the car. He drives to Burger King below the speed limit, and I feel relieved. I don't know why we are taking the car. It's less than half a mile from Mia's home. When we reach and Noah parks the car safely, I let out a breath I was unintentionally holding in. We step out of the car, and he locks it.

"What did Luke and Theresa want to order?" I ask as I push the door open, and we enter.

"Original Chicken Sandwich for Theresa, Luke and me. I am not sure about Mia, but I think you would know her go-to order, wouldn't you now?" He asks, rhetorically wiggling his eyebrows.

"Shut up. I am going to order." I say irritatedly.

"Go ahead. I am going to sit there." He says, gesturing towards a table.

I move to one of the free counters and order a Chicken Garden Salad each for myself and Mia and an Original Chicken Sandwich for everyone else. Noah suggests buying a pack of twenty-piece chicken nuggets. I know that Mia already has Barbeque Sauce at home, so I skip that.

"Twenty-nine seventy-four." The cashier named Alexandra says, informing me of the total.

I give the cashier my credit card, and she flashes a flirty, seductive smile and winks at me. Alexandra swipes the card, and my phone beeps, notifying me that the amount has been deducted. While returning my card, she gives me a tissue with her number written on it, and I tear the tissue in front of her without hesitation and dump it in the dustbin. A scowl appears on her face, and she gives me four brown packets.

I turn around to see that Noah has disappeared. I move towards the table - the packets in my hand - where he was sitting and sit there waiting for him. Then, out of nowhere, he appears behind me and taps my shoulder.

"Where did you go?" I ask him.

"I went to attend a call from the publishing house." He replies with a sly expression on his face.

"And?" I ask, unsure if I should be happy, sad or concerned.

"They are promoting me to be the senior editor. I just need to complete the formalities, now." He replies cheerfully.

"Congratulations, Mr Noah Anderson." I say happily, rejoicing for him.

"But I need to go home. My boss needs some documents that are on my laptop."

"Okay. Go home. I'll walk."

"You sure? It's pretty hot outside."

"Yeah. Take your sandwich."
