OLIVER
I call Alex to ask him to call Noah tomorrow.
He accepts the call on the first ring and says, "Hey, Oliver. How are you, bro?"
I answer, "I'm good. How's uni?" unable to hide the giddiness in my voice.
He replies, "Same old, same old. What's up?"
"Noah came home yesterday." I respond, causing him to gasp audibly.
"He did?" He asks, astonished.
"Yeah, crying." I state.
He yells out through the phone, "That stupid ass bitch! I am going to kill her."
"No, Alex. Noah already broke up with her." I assert.
"That is something he should have done months ago." He replies.
"I know, Alex, but you don't know the whole of it. Talk to him tomorrow, okay?" I ask as some cars honk ahead of me. This is the exact reason I love Miami. The city never sleeps.
"Yeah, I will. Where are you? I can hear some cars honking in the background." He questions.
"I am returning home."
"Where did you go? You dropped Noah off?"
"No." I reply in monosyllables because I will tell him everything without Alex asking, which I don't want to.
"Oliver, I can hear your giddiness through the phone. What are you not telling me?" He inquests.
I squeak out, "Mia and I went on a date."
"She asked you out?" He asks, astonishment evident in his tone.
"I was the one to ask her out, dickhead." I reply, a bit angry and stung.
"You are lying, Anderson." He declares.
"I am not. You can call Mia and ask her for yourself." I snarl out through the phone.
"Okay. I believe you. I am proud of you, Oliver." He says, and I inhale deeply to calm myself and reply, "Good."
"So, how was the date?" He inquires.
"Even though I don't have anything to compare it to, it felt like the best date ever." I reply.
"Obviously, cause you love her, and she loves you." He states indifferently.
I gasp and question, "How do you know that?"
"Anyone who has eyes knows that." He states.
"Alex, you are the first person to say that." I reply.
"Yeah, but everyone knew it. Savannah, James, Devin, Noah, hell, even Madison knew it."
"What the fuck!? Madison knew it too? When did you talk to her?" I shout out.
"Calm down, Oliver. It was sometime in January." He replies.
"What were you doing?" I ask.
"I don't remember. I was at the frat house, and we talked."
"Okayyy. I do remember the party now. You and Devin weren't talking, and he had come down to Miami. I had hit him, and then you and I had gotten into a fight the next day. But what did you and Madison talk about?" I reply.
"Random stuff, Oliver."
"I can't imagine you speaking to Madison. Didn't you hate her? Are you guys friends now?"
