~Two Months Later-
I was in the Wolf's Den with Wheaty and Eli. Tammy wasn't too fond of me and wanted to kill me a long time ago, but I couldn't care less. All three of us were talking and having a good time.
"I have great taste in music, Eli. Hell, even Wheaty thinks so." I argued with a smile on my face. Apparently, Eli thinks our music taste is trash. "Don't act like you don't like the 50s, 60s, and 70s."
Eli shook his head, "You and Wheaty are nuts."
"Smart nuts." Wheaty blurted out and laughed hysterically.
"Idiot." I mumbled jokingly as Wheaty gave me a fake glare.
"I loved our talk and I hate to cut it short, but uh- Wheaty, I need to talk to the Deputy... alone." Eli told Wheaty as politely as he could. "We all can talk later."
"Yeah, yeah. Sure. No problem. See ya later, Dep, Eli." Wheaty nodded at us, leaving the room and closing the door behind him.
"Deputy, Jacob is recruiting more and more soldiers by the day. And our militia can't keep fighting for much longer... I know I can't ask you to kill Jacob, even though I'd like you to, but... I don't know what we're going to do if you don't start fighting against his soldiers. We won't survive at this rate, Dep. We're bleeding bodies by the second." Eli confessed as he looked down at the file in his hands.
"Listen, Eli... Just please be patient with me here. This is a tough situation for me. I don't want to kill Jacob or his people, but I don't want him killing you guys either. I have a plan... It might not be the best plan, but it could possibly work out."
"What exactly is your plan, Dep?" Eli looked up from the manila folder in his hand, closed it, and placed the file on his desk, scooting closer to me in his swivel chair.
I let out a deep breath I didn't realize I was holding in. "The only thing I can think of is to join them, Eli, and maybe they'll get off y'all's backs."
Eli scoffed. "Hell no, Deputy. I'm not freely giving you to those psychopaths without a fight. We'll be nothing without you, damnit. Nothing."
"You seem to be doin' alright so far. And I'll be with Jacob. Happy. I promise, you won't have to worry about him and the cult anymore. I'll hand myself over and you'll be free, Eli. You and the militia will finally be free. Isn't that what you wanted in the first place? I'm giving you that opportunity. You won't have to fight a losing battle. It'll work. I go with Jacob and the cult gives up Pratt, Hudson, the Marshall, and Whitehorse. Jacob will leave you guys alone. It just fucking makes sense unless you have a better damn plan."
"I can't just let you go like that."
"Why the hell not?!" I growled in frustration.
"Can't you see it, Axl?! I have feelings for you... And you being with Jacob hurts. Without you, I feel like nothing. You're the first person I've had these feelings for in a very long time. I can't just let you go." Eli came clean as he looked into my eyes. His brown eyes shining with a determination I've never seen before.
"... Shit. I don't know what to say." I admitted as I looked down at my hands, fiddling with my shirt that Eli gave to me that was his... I was completely shocked at what he just disclosed.
Eli stayed silent for a moment. "I shouldn't have said anything."
"No, no, I'm glad you told me, it's just... I'm shocked more than anything. And I'm with Jacob, so..."
