[Jacob's Point Of View / POV]

Four Hours Later—

After the war was over and many deaths later, Axl consumed my mind. David stayed beside me the entire time, watching my back, which I was extremely grateful for. Obviously, we won the war and every single resistance member was gone for good. Dead. My soldiers and I culled the herd; we did what needed to be done. Meanwhile, my radio cackled, Joseph's voice filling the air.

"Brother Jacob, come in brother Jacob."

"Joseph."

"It's time, brother."

"Time for what?"

"You know what this means? It means the politicians will be silenced. It means the corporations will be erased. It means the world will be cleansed by God's righteous fire... But most of all... it means I'm right... The world as we know it... will be over... I waited so long... I waited so long for the prophecy God whispered in my ear to be fulfilled. I prepared you for this moment, brother. The Collapse has come... And when the world is ready to be born anew, we will step into the light... When the Lamb opened the Seventh Seal... there was silence in Heaven... and the seven angels before God were given seven trumpets... And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake... and I heard a great voice from the temple say to the angels... go your ways and pour from the vials, the wrath of God upon the Earth. It is finished, brother. The Collapse is upon us. Get to your bunker as soon as you can, Jacob. I'll let John and Faith know... Together, we will march to Eden's Gate."

A different voice shouted over my radio, "Attention. Attention. This is the Emergency Broadcast System. Take shelter immediately. Take shelter immediately. This is not a drill. Repeat. This is not a drill."

We needed to get the fuck out of here.

"David! Brady! We need to get the fuck out of here! The goddamn Collapse is coming! Get in your truck!" I yelled with authority as I sprinted to the passenger seat of Brady's truck.

Then, David hopped in the backseat while Brady climbed into the driver's seat. Brady started the truck up and the engine roared to life.

"Floor it to my fucking bunker, Brady!"

"On it, s-sir!" Brady put his truck in drive and rammed his foot on the gas, causing it to lurch forward.

There was an enormous earthquake in the distance and literal fireballs were shooting down from the sky. Brady had to swerve the truck multiple times to dodge the balls covered in fire. Trees were falling down and were burning up in flames. The sky resembled hell, the heavens glowing nothing but red. There were abandoned vehicles and people that were on fire. I guess my brother was right...

After about ten minutes of us almost crashing into trees and almost getting hit by fireballs falling from the sky, we made it to my bunker, finally. I'm not sure where my other soldiers were... Probably back at the jail, burning up in flames. Once us three made it in my bunker, safe and sound, I just realized... Axl...

Goddamnit. Oh shit. No, no, no, no, no, no. FUCK!

I just wanted to start crying right then and there; my hands made their way to the back of my head as I began pacing back and forth in front of my bunker's entrance.

"What's wrong?" Brady asked incredulously, wondering why I was worrying.

"Damnit, Brady. I JUST LEFT AXL OUT THERE! THAT'S WHAT'S FUCKING WRONG!" I screamed at the Chosen.

He flinched at my unexpected yelling as he cowered in fear.

"It'd be useless to go back out there." David added to the conversation, itching the back of his neck.

"No shit, Sherlock." I snapped at the General. "Wait a minute... I can try and radio Joseph."

I turned my radio on and tried to contact my brother. "Joseph."

After a few long, torturous seconds, he replied, "Yes, brother."

"Where's Axl?" I questioned as I shut my eyes, fearing the answer that would come out of his mouth.

"She's in Faith's bunker."

I sighed in relief. "... Good. Um- How's she doing?"

"Axl just got out of surgery when God's wrath was brought down on the Earth... They used bliss so that she's in no pain at the moment. She's in recovery. Feeble, but barely alive..."

"Keep me updated, will ya?"

"Sure will, my brother. I'll let you know when she wakes up from the bliss."

"Are John and Faith safe in their bunkers too?"

"Yes, indeed."

"That's all I needed to know. I'll uh- talk soon."

"Goodbye, brother."

After that, I shut my radio off, placing it on the nearby table, already tired of being cooped up in this motherfucking bunker. Worried was an understatement. Guilt began eating away at me for not being with her. Axl was the only thing on my mind.

This was going to be a long six damn years without my girl by my side...
