A week went by and Jacob and I were still arguing and he was continuing to be an ass which made me be an ass back.

The snow outside begun to melt each day and the sun has been shining brighter and brighter. It wasn't supposed to snow anymore for a while and I didn't know how I felt about that... Instead of three feet of snow outside, it went down to about six inches. Anyway, Jacob has heard that the resistance, including the Whitetails, are starting to get worried about me and is asking around and even sending out search parties. I don't know how I felt about that either...

In case you're wondering, Jacob and I haven't spoken about that night and we probably never will acknowledge that it happened. I believe we're both filled with too much 'pride' as Joseph would call it. And boy if he knew we had a one night stand, he would probably breathe fire and smoke would come out of his ears and his face would be all red, preaching about how 'lust' is a sin. On the other hand, John would probably make me atone for committing that 'sin.' And Faith would drug me up with all that bliss shit and preach to me about the 'Word of the Father.'

Jacob left for the first time, early in the morning, to do whatever the fuck he does all day at the Veteran's Center, I'm guessing. The resistance was looking for me and I knew I had to leave soon or I'd get caught; if they catch wind of where I am, I'd be in deep shit and they wouldn't trust me anymore. And Jacob would be in deep shit too. I made sure I had all my weapons, my backpack packed, and the clothes on my back. Today, was my birthday; the middle of December and I'm not sure if Jacob remembers or not. And I was going to leave before he came back. Well, that was my plan, anyway. I was at the door, ready to leave, when suddenly, the front door busted open.

It was Jacob.

"What are you doing here, Jacob?" I asked Jacob, incredulously; he unexpectedly barged through the door while I was trying to leave. "I thought you were going to start training your soldiers."

Jacob had his hands behind his back. "Training starts tomorrow... Are you leaving?"

"...I was. The resistance is looking for me. I have to go. If they know that I've been living here with you for a week, they'd kill me."

"They wouldn't kill you because they need you. If they'd kill you, they'd just be digging their own grave."

"I still need to leave, Jacob. If we get caught... Who knows what'll happen."

"I understand. But I need to give you something first." Jacob confessed, stepping closer to me, his hands still behind his back.

"What's behind your back?" I questioned, curiosity getting the best of me.

"Give me your hand." Jacob insisted, ushering me to give him my hand.

"Why? You gonna cut my hand off or some shit?"

"Just give me your damn hand." Jacob rolled his eyes, being persistent.

"Fine. But if you chop off my hand, I'll kick your ass, Seed." I uttered, shoving my hand in front of him.

The eldest Seed sibling pulled out a wooden ring from behind his back.

"Woah, woah, woah. Don't you think this is a little fast?" I asked as my eyes widened.

He placed the wooden ring on my finger. "It's not what you're thinking, idiot. Happy Birthday."

"Thanks Jacob." I smiled as I inspected the ring on my finger; it was perfect. "I really appreciate this... How'd you know it was my birthday?" I questioned, looking up at the giant man.

"We were in the army together, Axl." Jacob chuckled and shook his head.

I examined the ring more. The simplicity made me love it even more and something about it seemed so... Jacob. I loved it more than I should've. "How long did it take you to make this? And where..."

"Out in the garage. I've been working on it since three this morning."

"You never cease to amaze me, Seed." I beamed at the oldest Seed brother. "I'm in love with it."

"Well... I- nevermind."

"What?" I asked in confusion.

"Nothing, nothing. Are you leaving now?"

"You know I need to. I don't want to, but I gotta." I muttered, looking down at my boots.

"Ok. Just promise me that you'll stay safe out there. Alright?"

"I promise... Bye, soldier." I smiled as I gathered my things and walked out the front door. Walking out that door meant I was back to being Deputy Johnson. Back to killing...

Sorry for such a short chapter. I've been super busy, but I promise I'll try to make up for it!

Hope y'all have been liking them though!
