[Back To Axl's Point Of View / POV]

I slowly opened my eyes, green gradually fading from my vision. Lights shone in my face as I squinted from the incredibly bright fluorescents, my hand immediately shielding my eyes from the beaming brightness. My eyesight progressively began to get used to the blinding lights as I scanned my surroundings, wondering where I was. In an instant, I knew where I was because I've been in this room before. I was in Faith's bunker; the same exact room I was in when I was in a coma for three months. Looking down at my stomach, the bleeding had stopped and I was all stitched up with a bandage wrapping around my waist. My arm was connected to an IV and there was my vital signs monitor; everything seemed normal according to it. Suddenly, Dr. Perry Byers knocked on the door and walked in, shutting it behind him. Turning back around, he strutted over to me, sitting down in his swivel chair beside my bed, skimming over the clipboard in his hands.

"Ms. Johnson..." He paused for a moment, examining the clipboard in his hands; Perry took the pen out of his coat pocket and scribbled something down on it, then looked up at me, putting the pen back in his pocket. "How're you feeling, sweetheart?" Dr. Byers flashed me a smile.

"Fine. Where's Jacob?"

His smile immediately dropped. "Ms. Johnson... This is really hard to explain, but..."

"But what?" I sternly asked, wanting him to continue. "He dead? He better not be."

"...The Collapse happened earlier during your surgery... Everything is fine. Jacob is fine, but he's in his bunker. And you're here... in Faith's bunker..." The doctor admitted, looking down at his shoes.

My mouth fell open; I was in complete and utter shock. "What?!"

Perry nodded his head.

"So, I won't see him for six years?"

"...I'm afraid not, Ms. Johnson..."

"Get out." I demanded, pointing towards the door.

"Ms. John-"

"GET. OUT. NOW." I snarled at the man before me. "I'll press the button if I need you. Until then, just fucking leave."

"Y-Yes ma'am." He stuttered, bowing his head while leaving the room.

Tears burned my eyelids, threatening to slide down my face, but I wouldn't let them. I've been crying too much lately and it made me feel so weak...

I can't believe I won't see Jacob for at least another six years. Six long motherfucking years...

Rubbing my eyes forced the tears to go away. I sniffled, causing the right side of my nose to become stopped up. Anyway, I glanced over at the small table beside me and seen that there was a bowl of peaches with a spoon and some water; taking the bowl, I scooped up the peaches, shoving them in my mouth three at once. They reminded me of Jacob...

Flashback—

"Hey, aren't you going to join us?" Seed opened up the tent and asked me, interrupting me from my writing; he then proceeded to sit down beside of me.

"No. I'm good. I'm going to finish this letter then hit the hay."

"Did you eat?" Seed asked with concern; he always made sure I ate.

"Yeah. I ate a can of peaches."

"Ok. If you want to come sit around the fire with us, just come on out. We got a seat waiting for you."

"Thanks." I thanked Jacob as I gave him a small, genuine smile and started writing again.

"Who ya writing to?" Jacob questioned incredulously.

"My mom back home."

Without another word, Jacob nodded as he stood up and started walking toward the tent's opening. He then walked out of the tent. I sighed as I looked down at the piece of paper in my hands and began writing again.

Another Flashback—

Pratt was the last to leave. "I guess this is it, huh?" He asked as he looked at me.

"Yep. Get in the car and leave alive, or you die right here." I replied nonchalantly, looking at my nails.

Staci nodded quickly. "Yes. Ok. Bye Rookie." He flashed me a smile and he turned toward Jacob. "Goodbye, sir."

"Get out of my face, peaches." Jacob scowled as Pratt flinched.

"Yes, master." Pratt bowed his head as he scurried toward the car and got in.

As soon as Staci got in the backseat, Whitehorse stepped on the gas, making the car lurch forward. In an instant, the car was out of sight... Gone...

Another Flashback—

I was sitting in the dining hall by myself, eating a can of peaches. Taking another bite of the sweet fruit, Jacob came up to me and asked to sit down. Scooting over, he had enough space to sit beside me as he began gobbling down his burger.

"Can I have a bite?" Jacob asked me, referring to the can of peaches in my hand.

"Sure." I nodded as I handed him the can along with my metal spoon.

He shoved a slice of a peach in his mouth, savoring the flavor. "My favorite fruit."

"Let me take of bite of your burger."

Jacob reluctantly let me take a chunk out of it. "Damn. You almost ate half my burger."

End Of Flashbacks—

God. I can't get him off my damn mind. Everything reminds me of him. All I have left of him was the ring on my finger. After eating the entire can of peaches, I looked at my wooden ring, longing for Jacob... His touch... Just everything about him... Him.

Poor Axl and Jacob, separated for six years🥺🙁
