The crowd murmured excitedly after the man in blue robes sat. And even as little Xi pondered deeply, the town Lord's voice sounded again.

Does it mean this honorable master would be conducting the tests himself? He asked with a bow.

No need, the man in blue answered. Three of my disciples are more than capable. As for me I will be leaving for the next town. I believe there will be no problems with this. He actually stated instead of asked.

Not at all honorable lord. The town lord bowed before glancing at the Moshu clan patriarch whose expression slightly darkened as compared to his previous nonchalance. Seeing this made the town lords earlier discomfort lessen, at least not all of that old fox's plans went the way he wanted he thought.

Although they had a good relationship in public, it is not a secret that the two patriarchs actually have an ongoing rivalry. The two would often cause minor inconveniences to each others business. However when it came to the towns prosperity and security, the two clans would immediately unite to protect it.

The revelry continued until it became evening when the nobles slowly bade farewell to make their preparations for tomorrow.

As for little Xi he observed the people as much as he could to glean as much information as he needed. He concluded that the man in blue is already an expert. As for his disciples they can be considered as someone who has been studying magic for a few years. He remembered that the divine lotus sect only do recruitments of disciples every ten years. So if these disciples were new then they should've only been studying for at least ten years.

When he thought he had gathered enough information, little Xi left to finalize his plans. After the successful experiment he did today he has already thought of the other minor charms he can perform. There are different charms in his memory. Some of them can be prepared just by assembling the required items. Hence no backlash can be expected even if they fail.

After much deliberation he has decided to join the sect. So as to avoid any trouble he needed a lot of things to prepare. First he needed to create an illusion charm. It was a simple charm he can create using various materials and drawing a small magic diagram on a patch of cloth he can put on a string and wear.

The magic in his memory has a basic foundational principle. Creating the spell diagram and activating the spell. The spell diagram is usually in the form of a simple array of symbols that is able to direct elemental energies depending on the specific function of the spell. It can either be mentally visualized and activated using a chant where the caster supply the energy needed. Or with regards to little Xi's plan it can be drawn and activated using an item with magical properties.

However the spell diagrams that are made into arrays and formations are usually more complicated as one needs to add multiple runes that will help in gathering the energy from an energy source, which is needed to activate and maintain the spell.

After drawing the small diagram carefully on a piece of cloth he then made it into a tiny pouch with a string he can tie as a necklace. According to his memory Illusion charms usually works by attracting elemental light particles. As for little Xi's diagram it needed an energy source. He then put a combination of sparkle sand and spirit water in a tiny bottle which he put in the tiny pouch. This would be enough for the charm to last a few hours.

Trying it out his small body disappeared and was replaced by a youth with ordinary features that can be easily forgotten. Seeing that it was successful, he proceeded with his other preparations before going back to his uncle's courtyard.

There he found his mother seated beside a window looking afar. This is how his mother usually spend her days as if she was waiting for someone. He had long concluded that the reason for all her mothers misery was his father. Although her mother didn't seem to blame his father. What he can do now is repay her mother's and his uncle's kindness.

As he is now that is still a faraway wish. However, once he was able to master the magic in his memories then no one would surely treat her mother poorly again.

He then sighed and joined her mother with a tea he made from the spirit water and spirit grass. It made an aromatic fragrance as he poured it to a cup and gave to her mother.

Her mother looked at her dutiful son and smiled. His son had always been an intelligent lad. She noticed it the day he was born. He always had a curious eye for everything, like a student eager to learn. And as he grew up he learned faster than any child his age. He is his son after all she thought.

And as soon as he could, he already became independent doing chores and other errands. This made the servants like him. Although the clan members still treated him like air. This didn't matter though. Atleast now she knows that even if she died his little boy would be okay.

Mother, little Xi began. His mother looked at him with gentle encouraging eyes.

If I joined the divine lotus sect, would you be okay here on your own? He asked with a bit of shame. He knew that although her mother does not have any illness, her body is still deteriorating day by day. Which made him feel like he is abandoning her by joining the sect.

At first her mother was shocked. Then a hint of struggle was seen in her eyes. But she then patted the head of her son.

You truly are your fathers son she murmured before smiling. It was an encouraging smile that told everything that needs to be told reassuring little Xi that he doesn't have to worry about her.

This is the first time he heard information regarding his father. Does it mean he was part of a sect too? He wanted to ask more but her mother obviously didn't want to tell more as she returned to sipping the tea he made.

There truly isn't anything else that he can do even with his extensive knowledge in magic, unless she wanted to forget everything about his father then he could easily brew a memory erasing potion based on his memory.

He actually asked his mother one time before, if she had the chance would she choose to forget everything about his father. Her mother gave him her tender smile and said that although everything that happened resulted in her being abandoned by her family, she does not regret even a single thing.

Besides, I got you, she said before hugging him tightly. Seeing her mothers sincerity he could only sigh and respect her decision.

Now he has the chance to learn magic and maybe after he can find his father and ask why he left. He only wished that her mother would live to see that day.
