M.I. Ch12

Now that he had a rudimentary wand he was more confident in being able to keep his secrets while in the sect. He then kept the wand in his sleeves before resting to recover his mental strength.

The sun rose after an hour thus he went to eat with his uncle. His uncle gave him a few reminders so as not to worry his mother and so that he would work hard. He could only agree since only he and his mother knew he was joining a sect. And if he would meet Yue or Tian maybe they'll recognize him but that wouldn't be a problem once they all became sect disciples.

The only problem would be if the ancestor took notice of him. However, he doubts that the son of a disowned descendant would be worthy enough news for the ancestor to be informed. Unless he learned that that descendant had amazing magical talents.

Little Xi was not so keen in associating himself with the Moshu clan unless it was his uncle or Yue who had become a dear friend to him.

He even decided to slightly change his name from Moshu to Mo, meaning silent. And it was quite befitting as he wanted to silently train until he becomes strong enough to confront the Moshu clan.

After eating, the two rode a carriage into another part of the city filled with buildings meant for the government. They stopped on a particularly average building where a man stood waiting for them. After they stepped out of the carriage the man came forward and confirmed their identity. He looked like an ordinary scholar wearing gray robes.

His uncle was a bit surprised learning that they were expected. Maybe his sister had been preparing for this for a long time he thought. But this man looks ordinary, and I don't recognize him as a famous government scholar.

He then proceeded to ask, I'm sorry to ask but will master scholar be the one teaching my nephew?

Seeing the skeptical look given him the man smiled before saying, it is my master who would be teaching him. You can leave him to me as master is currently busy and would only be able to meet him tomorrow. You can visit him anytime.

Hearing this made his uncle worry less. He again reminded little Xi to be good and study hard. He then left with the carriage after.

Little Xi didn't know what his mother arranged for him. But he is sure that the man with him is not a scholar. Thus he waited for the man to tell him what his mother intended. After making sure the carriage can't be seen the man looked at little Xi and said follow me.

The two did not enter the building but went to the other side where another carriage was waiting. This one however was open and without a driver. The man sat on the front taking the reins before telling little Xi to sit with him.

Little Xi obeyed and the man started the carriage. After a few minutes the man finally talked. I am your mothers guardian. Tasked by your father to be by your mother's side at all times. She asked me this favor making me neglect my duties. After bringing you to the lotus temple I would be going back.

Hearing this surprised little Xi. He looked at the man beside him. He then realized that the man had an illusion enchantment around him. This man knows magic he thought, and this can also mean that his father knew magic. This realization gave rise to more questions rather than answers.

And this man can potentially answer them. However, seeing the man's taciturn expression he guessed that he wouldn't probably answer.

I only want to ask one question. Little Xi said, but the man acted like he didn't hear which little Xi expected so he asked anyway.

Why did he leave?

The man was silent for a moment before saying, he was forced to.

Knowing this made little Xi's bad impression of his father to ease up a bit. Atleast he didn't deliberately leave his mother and he even left a guardian.

The man continued, and he doesn't know about you. He then acted as if he didn't talk at all while the carriage left the city proper and headed for a nearby mountain.

Little Xi pondered about these things and when the carriage reached the lotus mountain he kept these thoughts and focused on actually entering the sect.

They left the carriage on the foot of the mountain and continued going up by foot. The temple was located midway to the peak of the mountain. After a few minutes they saw a stone arc adorned with lotus carvings which lead to the temple itself.

The temple was not very big and is very simple. Aside from the pair of giant lotus statues on the door there were no other decorations. There were a few people who seemed to be here for the final test like them. They were scattered through out the grounds. Some came alone and some accompanied by either servants or family.

After stepping on the temple grounds the man with little Xi faced him and said I will be waiting here until sundown. If you do not pass I will escort you back. If you do not come, I'll assume you passed and leave. Little Xi nodded to him and proceeded to observe the people around him.

Most of the people here seemed to have come from powerful clans as evidenced by their clothes and the servants fawning around them. However there are also ordinary people who could only gather together so as not to look out of place. They looked enviously at the young masters and ladies of big clans.

He tried to look for Yue or Tian but didn't see them. They are possibly already inside the sect he thought. He did saw Ceng Jin and the other people from his town. Both were young men with the age around the same as Tian. As for the girl who was tested last like him he didn't see. He also presumed that she was already inside the sect.

Little Xi stayed beside the man with him waiting for the announcement of the start of the test. He didn't wait long before divine lotus sect disciples came out from the temple. He then bid goodbye to the man who brought him, who nodded before little Xi went with the crowd towards the temple.

If everyone is here all participants of the final test is to go inside the temple. As for those who are not participating please wait on the temple grounds. The people began going inside the temple as their friends and family bid them good luck. Little Xi was among the last to enter the temple.
