Chapter 23

We really struck it rich this time! Yifan laughed. We've never had this much harvest. Brother Xi must be our lucky charm!

Aside from the previous herb they found after being chased by the boar, now they also found a patch of rare spirit herb.

Ming Ran is already imagining what artifact he would be choosing from the Artifacts pavilion of artifice mountain.

While little Xi brought out a piece of the mirrorstar grass to study. It truly was a beautiful herb sparkling like starlight in the dark. He sensed the rich energy inside. He would have to keep some so he can study it more. He also really need to go to the scriptures pavilion to learn more about these rare herbs.

The next morning the three realized that they were not familiar with their surroundings. After running away from the boar, looking for the herb patch and then finding the mirrorstar grass at night, they must have gone farther from the sect boarder than they wanted.

I'm hungry and thirsty, complained Yifan.

We're already lost and all you think about is food, we already ate everything yesterday said Ming Ran.

Wait, actually...little Xi then told them to be quite while he made a hand symbol and closed his eyes. After he opened them. He said I got it. Before heading towards a direction.

Are you sure? Asked Yifan.

Well when you mentioned you were thirsty I remembered the river we followed yesterday. With my water element attribute I sensed the direction of the river. Once we get there maybe we'll find a familiar place. Little Xi explained.

Hearing these the other two's eyes brightened. That's right! Ming Ran exclaimed excitedly.

The three walked for more than an hour before they finally found the river. Looking around they realized the place was still unfamiliar.

That can't be right. Little Xi thought. Before anyone could say anything, Yifans stomach suddenly growled making the three laugh.

How about we catch fish for breakfast then decide what we do after. Ming Ran suggested. Not long after the three have stripped to their pants and already playing in the water while catching fish.

With little Xi's keen senses and energy burst spell he was able to catch quite a number of fishes, while Ming Ran was able to catch a few. Yifan only caught one small fish which managed to escape.

Little Xi then cleaned the fish put some herbs on them and roasted them until the skin was crispy.

The three then enjoyed a hearty meal of roasted fish while they waited for their clothes to dry.

Already full, the three decided on what to do next.

Why don't we follow the river in a single direction? eventually we'll be able to see the outer peaks of the sect. Ming Ran said.

But what if we went deeper into the mountains instead? Yifan asked.

We'll just have to be careful. Little Xi said. We don't have any other choice, I'll climb trees and scout before we advance once in a while. If there are any beasts, we'll run the opposite direction.

He was still  unfamiliar with the mountains surrounding the sect, although he already learned that it was located west of the capital. Atleast he can still protect the two if anything happens.

The hours passed but the surroundings became more and more unfamiliar. At one point little Xi saw one or two flame boars and told the other two to hide. After the spirit beast disappeared the three continued following the river. They could be anywhere by now.
