M.I. Ch33
As little Xi had been on the look out for this spirit, he immediately cast a spell sending a ball of energy from his wand.
When it hit the old man the ball of energy just went thru its body. The old man then directly crashed into little Xi causing him to be thrown back along with Bai Ling and Fengyue.
After hitting the ground a hair raising cackle was heard as the old man vanished and the fog surrounded the three kids.
Little Xi felt a cold feeling when he got blasted and hit the ground. He realized his pouch came out of his robe and was a few paces away from him along with a rectangular object that came out of the pouch. When little Xi picked it up he realized it was the memory soul stone.
It was the main reason he came for this mission. When he picked it up he could feel that the memory soul stone seems to be responding to something from within the fog. If this is what that old man was after it must mean that this memory soul stone is connected to that old man.
Ah the wall disappeared! Bai Ling suddenly shouted.
They were completely surrounded by thick fog. There was no way to see where they came from or where the cliff wall is.
But little Xi wasn't bothered by that as he now have a more pressing matter. Fengyue saw him looking at the soul stone and asked what it was.
It's something my uncle gave me. However when that ghost old man knocked us over he seemed to be after this stone.
Do you have any idea why? Fengyue asked.
No, but I have a method to try and find out. He said thinking about unleashing the memory that is still trapped within the stone. But first we need to find somewhere safer, little Xi suggested.
And how do we do that? Bai Ling angrily asked.
Little Xi didn't bother answering but raised his wand. He then muttered a chant after which a glow appeared from the tip of his wand and flew off to one direction.
Follow it. He ordered before running after the glow. The three ran for a few minutes before stopping on some sort of a ruin. It was small with only half a wall standing with a few rubbles around it. The glow stopped beside the wall and disappeared.
Where are we? Asked Yunfei trying to look around the fog unsuccessfully.
My spell found a spot with the most stable elemental energy flow where there is the least amount of magical fluctuations. It's safe to assume that this place is safe he said before setting up protective enchantments just in case. He then sat down and told the other two to do the same and watch.
He placed the memory soul stone on the floor pointed his wand at it and muttered a spell. A flash of light entered the stone from the wand and the stone suddenly started glowing.
The glow got so bright it enveloped the three who were looking at it making Fengyue and Bai Ling cry out in shock.
Little Xi already knew this would happen and was quite calm as the light enveloped him. When the light faded a series of scenes appeared in front of him. It looked like incomplete memories. So the stone was damaged he thought, or the one who used it didn't know how to actually use it.
At first they were on the top of a grassy hill overlooking a beautiful valley. On the hill there were two figures. An old man and a boy. They were meditating and are obviously cultivators, this memory was apparently of one of these two. On the valley were different halls, pavilions, and gardens where a few disciples practiced techniques with elders supervising them. It was a prosperous sect.
