As little Xi watched Yue and her carriage leave, the inspection of their caravan was finished. The group then continued into the city. Now that clan elders were not around little Xi finally agreed when his fourth uncle told him to ride the carriage.

The street was full of life as peddlers, vagrants, farmers, and all types of people went on their way. The caravan headed to the business district first to deliver their wares. Little Xi waited inside the carriage as his uncle finished his business transactions. As he waited he looked expectantly at his surroundings. The capital was such a big place, with the veritable cornucopia of street foods and goods, and plenty of edifices housing a variety of businesses.

He wanted to explore but didn't want to make any trouble for his uncle so he waited. After an hour his uncle finally alighted on the carriage looking happy. Looks like his transaction was a success.

He then saw the curious face of little Xi as he looked at the people passing by and he smiled.

You won't need to go to the master scholar until tomorrow. How about I show you around he said making littles Xi's eyes brighten.

The carriage along with the guards and servants first went to a house on the residential area of the city. Apparently the Moshu clan was able to purchase one as they have done multiple transactions in the city it had become a necessity.

The house was not too big nor too small. It had a courtyard and two buildings for the clan members and for the servants and soldiers to stay. After resting a bit little Xi and his uncle went out accompanied by a guard and a servant.

His uncle treated him to some snacks and they went to watch a play while drinking tea. The storyteller told about a war thousands of years ago where the cultivators stormed the invading barbarians who are believed to be demon worshipers of the demon plane.

He told of the valiant heroes who rose to prominence in that war like the Jade sword of the northern province who was able to unleash ten thousand swords wrecking havoc among the enemies. There was also the beautiful Emerald Phoenix of the eastern province who flew in the skies and summoned fire and lightning. Listening to these tales made little Xi think if he mastered the magic in his memories would he be as illustrious as these heroes? He was so engrossed in the story he didn't even notice his uncle's sad look.

Seeing his nephew that seemed so engrossed at the tales of heroes he thought if this boy was acknowledged by the clan and tested, would he have had magical talent? And if so maybe he could've changed the patriarchs decision about fifth sister.

They would never know. As the clan rules would never allow others outside the clan to know that they have magical artifacts given by their ancestor. Even the servants who have worked in the manor all their lives didn't know.

This is okay too he thought. If he worked hard and become an exemplary government scholar he could obtain an official title giving face to the clan. Then maybe the patriarch would acknowledge him he thought. It's not farfetched as this boy is very intelligent.

The play was finally finished with the audience applauding returning little Xi to the present. His uncle asked if he enjoyed it and he answered with an enthusiastic nod.

Good his uncle said. Since I won't be seeing you for a long time I'll give you something nice once we return to the house he finished.

The two walked around some more and returned to the house before it became dark. While eating dinner his uncle handed him a small box. He said since little Xi seems so interested in cultivators he would surely like his gift.

Opening the box there was a small stone tablet with a carving of a man which seemed to be doing some sort of stance. The stone tablet was the size of a grown man's palm and looked old with cracks but surprisingly it still felt sturdy.
