After preparing the protective pearl he went back to the Artifice mountain to visit Moshu Yue. He only know of the Artifice pavilion which was located on the base of the mountain. Since he didn't know where to go he headed there to ask for information.
As he walked alone a few Artifice peak disciples passed by him. Seeing that he was from the formations peak some of them recalled the rumors of an incident a few days back saying the beginners class of the formations peak purchased a midgrade artifact.
Most of them didn't believe this rumor of course. And even those who witnessed it were so jealous that when they heard the story they wouldn't comment to prove it.
As little Xi neared the Artifacts pavilion, suddenly a group of twelve to thriteen year olds barred his way. He looked at them coolly and asked if they needed anything.
Seeing his reaction the group sneered. I guess the formations peak disciples are quite gutsy. The one in the middle of the group said. He had a black hair tied in a bun and a sword was strapped on his side.
Little Xi assumed it was a lowgrade artifact, because if it was a midgrade he could've changed its appearance.
You should teach him a lesson big brother a kid on his left said.
Yeah, who does he think he is, strutting around the artifice mountain. Another one agreed.
Little Xi's face remained calm. With his monstrous mental prowess, he had already deduced these kids are looking for trouble. And he didn't exactly break any rule by coming here. He had decided if they want trouble why would he shrink back?
He then smiled provokingly. And so? What about it? He said.
Seeing his smile and response, the group of kids became enraged. Their sneers became snarls as they looked at little Xi.
By now the people around have noticed this. But they didn't do anything. A bunch of kids arguing isn't really something big. However, the group of kids still know that they couldn't just gang up on a disciple like this.
The leader of the group who was the first to talk earlier suddenly laughed. Good, do you dare to accept a duel with me on the arena? He asked pointing his sword at little Xi.
Little Xi was unpertrubed. He then answered, sure you can bring your monkeys too. He said crossing his arms.
You! The group roared. They were usually the ones insulting others. Even those on the same class. This was the first time someone had insulted them to their face.
Good! The leader once again said before leading the group to the arena.
The watching disciples only shook their head as they thought that little Xi was sure to lose. The leader of the group of kids happens to be the fifth strongest disciple of the beginners class of the artifice peak. That is why he had earned a group of followers who fawns on him.
Little Xi didn't mind though. He followed the group until they arrived at the arena. A few people were there practicing and dueling. When the group of kids arrived a supervising disciple who appears to be thirty years old asked their purpose.
The leader announced with a loud voice that he would be dueling a disciple from the artifice peak. He made sure that everyone can hear him. Beating up this kid would surely increase his popularity. He thought.
The supervising disciple then lead the group to an empty platform. And he would be the acting referee. He was an advanced class disciple and would be enough to handle a couple of beginners class disciples.
Little Xi stood on one end, while the leader of the group of kids stood at the other.
Remember the one you lost to is called Hu Wutai! The thirteen year old kid yelled.
Little Xi! A voice suddenly rang from the crowd. It was Moshu Yue who looked worried. She heard about a formations peak beginners class disciple who was challenged to a duel. She suddenly had a bad premonition hence she came here as fast as she could. And it really was little Xi. She then glared at the one who was standing opposite little Xi.
Big sis don't worry, I won't disappoint you, Little Xi said smiling. He then looked at his opponent with nonchalance.
Although Moshu Yue was still worried, she didn't do anything as she trusted little Xi.
When the advanced disciple saw this, his eyebrow went up before he yelled begin!
Hu Wutai became more enraged when he saw how little Xi disregarded him. He immediately brandished his sword. And ran towards little Xi who made a few hand signs.
Hu Wutai then yelled Fire slash! His sword became wrapped in flames as he slashed at little Xi.
How brutal! The supervising disciple thought as he prepared to intervene.
Little Xi only smiled as the sword neared him. When it was about to hit him he dodged with such agility that not even the supervising disciple knew how he did it.
Hu Wutai's eyes became red as he realized he missed. Hmp! You won't be as lucky the second time, he yelled. He again slashed little Xi with his flaming sword. The sword truly was a lowgrade artifact which can be used to channel energy but does not have an accompanying technique on its own. The flaming slash Hu Wutai was using was actually the free technique he acquired in the scriptures pavilion. And it was the only technique he knew as he spent all his earnings to acquire this sword.
This was enough to earn him his fifth rank in his class. But against little Xi it was far from enough.
Little Xi dodged like he was only dancing around Hu Wutai who was getting more and more frustrated slashing everywhere and not being able to land a single attack.
Moshu Yue was shocked at first and then she started to smile.
This kid actually knows a movement technique! The supervising disciple said incredulously making the other disciples gasp. Movement techniques are quite precious and cost a lot of points. Even the most mediocre one cost more than the best low grade artifact.
Movement techniques are usually practiced by advanced and innercourt disciples who don't have a flying artifact as it is very useful. Not only in combat but also when doing missions outside the sect. For a beginners class disciple to learn one is truly shocking.
Hu Wutai finally had enough. Do you only know how to run? He yelled.
Little Xi finally stopped and looked at him with a grin. Hu Wutai took this chance and immediately slashed down with his flaming sword. Before he could land his attack, suddenly his whole body froze.
His eyes bulged as he looked at little Xi who was pointing a finger at him.
Since you want to get beat up so badly, little Xi said shrugging his shoulders. He walked closer to Hu Wutai who was still frozen mid-attacking posture.
Little Xi then balled his fist before punching Hu Wutai's face. Although the first layer of the elemental body focused on defense, it also gives a bit of boost on little Xi's agility and strength. He followed the punch with a kick to Hu wutai's stomach. Hu Wutai's body immediately crumpled as he flew outside the platform unconscious.
The advanced disciple and the other spectators became speechless. A dropping pin could be heard with the silence of the crowd. Even the group of kids who had been taunting little Xi earlier became scared as they looked at the unconscious Hu Wutai.
Finally, the supervising disciple declared little Xi as the winner before he carried the unconscious Hu Wutai for treatment.
Little Xi came down the platform and faced Moshu Yue who was shocked at first but is now laughing in delight.
Aiya, little Xi. You really didn't disappoint your big sis. When did you become so strong? She asked.
Little Xi only scratched his head as the two left the arena. They went on one of the gardens of the artifice peak where they caught up with each other telling stories about their experiences inside the sect. Before little Xi left, he flicked the remaining pearl which disappeared inside Moshu Yue's body.
