The next three months, with his magic potential unlocked, little Xi tried as many magic in his memory as he can with the resources he can find.
Since he still needed a wand or an alternative item to help focus elemental energy, he can only test out minor charms, spell diagrams, and arrays.
Some of them were successful, some needed minor changes for them to work. However, some did not work at all. Although he already have theories as to why, he still needed more information to be sure.
He noticed that the spell diagrams that usually don't work are those that need something called creational elements to work. Although the aptitude test array was somewhat the same, it essentially is not powered by the creational elements.
Thus he made a guess that the creational elements is somehow different from the information in his memory.
If this is true then where exactly did this memory of his come from? Also he would have to modify most of the spells to be of use.
Major spells especially, require at least three elements combined causing a synergy that would explode in power. There are only a few major spells that need one or two elements which can produce the same amount of power, and this can only be achieved if the spell is performed by an expert.
He also studied the wooden slip the Divine Lotus disciples gave. Aside from the engraved lotus on one side, the words lotus temple was also carved on the other side.
He could sense some sort of spell diagram inside. Using various means he learned that the diagram functioned as some sort of a key. Which makes sense as they can use it to probably enter the premises of the sect. As for the lotus temple after reading extensively he found that there was only one lotus temple in the entire province which was located on the lotus mountain beside the provincial capital.
He assumed it is where the entrance to the sect is. Whether the sect is also in the capital he would know after he get there.
He also prepared something for his mother. One of which is her mother's pendant. He placed a small enchantment within the pendant that would allow him to sense his mothers well being. Aside from that he also engraved a protection spell diagram on the pendant and around his uncles courtyard.
The array he used on his uncles courtyard is composed of many minor spell diagrams he had tested and placed in strategic locations. These diagrams don't have a major effect alone but when they connected together they combine into an array that can withstand even a major spell.
It also has an effect that is triggered when attacked and will create an illusion that will conceal the place making it look like it had been destroyed. The final effect is that it will send a signal notifying him of the incident.
Satisfied with his work he began to prepare the things he will take with him. A few clothes and trinkets that reminds him of home. The last thing he needed to do was say goodbye.
He found his mother on the same spot overlooking the mountain behind the manor. He greeted her before sitting down. His mother then patted his small hands holding them with hers.
You've been very busy lately little Xi she said. To which he nodded.
Although he tried to hide his activities, he did not hide them from his mother. He then handed her the pendant and told her to always wear it no matter what.
His mother did not ask about it and only allowed him to wear it around her neck. After which he showed him the wooden slip with an engraved lotus.
Seeing this her mother showed a bit of pride. I knew you were gifted she said. But is it what you really want? She asked looking him in the eyes.
