Chapter 8

Caroline's POV
I made it back in my office to complete my work but I ended up hearing loud banging noises. I hear a knock at my office door and I see Elena's head popping out.

"Hey Caroline." She says stepping foot in my office.

"Oh hey Elena." I say to her.

"I brought you some lunch. I thought we could eat in here while you work." Elena says with a small box in her hand.

"Aww thank you Elena and yes I would love that." I say to her and Elena makes her way towards me while she hands me the small box of food. "So did you hear all those noises?" I asked Elena.

"Caroline that was Klaus. He starts to bang and break things when he's in a bad mood." Elena explained to me. Wow some anger issue he has. "Probably some business stuff he's mad at. You don't want to mess with him when he's mad." Elena warns me and I nod.

I plan on not to be around Klaus when he's upset or angry. I feel like I am the caused to his mental breakdown when I rejected him. What he offered me was generous but I couldn't take his money.

It would make me a greedy person to be with a guy for his money. I was raised better than that.

"I left his office pretty briefly after that." I admit to Elena as I start to eat some of the food she gave me. Elena starts to scoot more closer to me.

"What happened in there?" She asked. I'm not  sure if I should tell Elena but she does know Klaus and his family for a long time so maybe I can trust her.

"If I'm honestly, I rejected him." I admit to her.

"Reject by how?" She asked seeming confused by my confession.

"I rejected to be his girlfriend. He bribed to pay me double of what I was getting but I refuse. Klaus already payed my tuition off when I went on a date with him to the gala last night. Now he wants me to pretend be his girlfriend for the public eye for 3 months." I admit everything to Elena.

"Wow I had no idea. I know you agreed to go on a date with him but I didn't know he basically payed you." Elena says to me pretty surprised about the truth.

"I won't do it. I am truly grateful for the opportunity and the thing he did for me but I can't accept any more. That's not who I am." I say to Elena and she nods.

"I understand that but you're lucky that Klaus didn't fire you. He's not use to not getting what he wants and Klaus always get what he wants." Elena states to me.

Of course Klaus gets everything he wants. He's Klaus fucking Mikaelson. The riches man in New Orleans. He has more than enough money to do anything.

"Would he really just fire me like that?" I questioned Elena.

"Yeah he would. He's done it before. If he really wanted to, he could make your life miserable. He has the power to do it." Elena says to me.

I know Klaus is a very intimidating man but that's just crazy. I can't be too afraid of him though. Klaus needs to learn that he can't always get what he wants.

And I won't let him get me. No matter how much money he gives me. I won't fall for it. But I am afraid about one thing. Klaus can fire me and it could be for any reason at all. I can't loose this job. It help pays my bills for my apartment. I could also loose my internship as well.

I need to be careful of that.
