Chapter 26

Caroline's POV
I walk into the waiting room and I see a bunch of kids sitting down. They look very sick and hungry. I already see one person passing out food to them. I decided to join him.

I pass each sandwich to each kid with a bottle of water. It feels good to help people. I haven't done charity work in a while so I'm glad I came to this one.

"You're new around here." I hear an unfamiliar voice says to me.

"Just helping out today." I say to him.

"Are you new to charity?" He asked me.

"No I use to work with sick animals a while back but I never had the opportunity to work with kids before." I admit to him.

"Yeah I love working with kids but how are animals like?" He asked me.

"So much fun. You get to feed them and sometimes bathe them." I say to him.

"Maybe I should try it. I'm Lucas by the way." He says reaching his hand out and I shake it.

"I'm Caroline." I say to him.

"Nice to meet you Caroline." He says to me. He's very handsome. He has curly brown hair with hazel eyes. He's tall and a bit muscular. "So are you in school or no?" He asked me.

"I'm in college but I have an internship at Mikaelson industries." I admit to him. "What about you?" I asked him.

"I'm in college to but I mostly do volunteer work in my free time." He admits to me.

"That's very sweet of you." I say to him.

"Thank you. So this might sound a bit weird but do you maybe wanna go out to eat with me?" Lucas asked and I'm shocked by his question. I don't even know what to say. Yes he's cute but I'm still so shocked.

"I would but..."

"She's not available." I hear Klaus's voice from beside me.

"Wow you're Klaus Mikaelson. The richest guy in New Orleans." Lucas says looking surprised.

"I am but the real question is why are you asking my girlfriend to go out to eat with you?" Klaus questions him.

"You're girlfriend?" He asked confused. "I'm confused because you told me you work at Mikaelson's industries but I didn't know you were dating Klaus Mikaelson." Lucas says.

"Yeah we just got into our relationship recently." I admit to Lucas.

"Yes and I would advise you to leave right now and don't asked my girlfriend to go out to eat with you ever again or else there will be consequences." Klaus threatens Lucas and I look at Klaus with wide eyes.

"Klaus." I say to him.

"I'm so sorry sir. It will never happen again." Lucas says scared and he begins to walk out of the waiting room.

I look at Klaus with my arms crossed with an angry look.

"Why do you always have to prove that you're the alpha male?" I questioned him.

"I don't have to prove anything love. I am the alpha male." Klaus says and I roll my eyes "Also he's not worthy of you." Klaus says.

"You can't tell me who and who's not worthy of me." I state to Klaus.

"Of course I can love. I'm you're boyfriend." Klaus says and I walk up closer to his face.

"Fake boyfriend." I remind him.

"Fake or not. You're still mine ." He says to me.

"You don't own me Klaus." I state him " I can talk to whoever I want." I say to him.

"You should be more careful on who you're talking to you. What if the paparazzi was here and they see you talking to him?" Klaus questions me.

"Klaus, the fucking paparazzi isn't even here and it's just a charity event." I state to him.

"When you're dating me, they are everywhere!" Klaus shouts a bit at me.

"You maybe a big deal around New Orleans but there is just one thing that you can't control and it's me." I state.

"Is that a challenge love?" Klaus says stepping closer to me. "I have all the power and the money in this city to make you do whatever I want and don't think I forgot about my offer because the contract is not going to be the one thing that stops me ." Klaus says to my face and I look at him.

"You can't touch me Klaus." I say to him.

"Don't worry love because soon you will be begging me to." He says. I can't believe he just said that.

How dare him? I won't let him control me and I will not beg for him. He is not my father. I'm a grown women. I make my own choices.

"Now come on, we have things to do." Klaus demands to me. He reaches out his arm and I roll my eyes and wrap my arm around his.

Despite how annoyed I am with Klaus, we still need to act like a couple. It's part of the deal.
