Chapter 50

Caroline's POV
After my talk with Elena, I decided to speak with Klaus to see how he's doing. I knock on his door and open it slowly. Klaus is writing on his huge stacks of papers.

"Is this a bad time?" I asked Klaus with a smirk on my face. He looks up at me and returns a smirk as well.

"Normally I would say yes but for you. I'll always make time." He says to me. He is just so sweet sometimes. "So how can I help you love?" Klaus asked me.

"I just came to see you and to ask you would you like to have lunch with me?" I asked him. I see small blush from Klaus now but he tries to hide it by putting his head down a little.

"I would love to have lunch with you." He says and I smile.

"Great and one more thing. Can you order Chinese food? I'm craving it." I asked him.

"Of course. Anything for you." Klaus says and I begin to walk out of his office.

Before I could even walk to my office, I see the one person I didn't expect to see here. I snap out of my thoughts and cross my arms as I stand in front of her.

"Can I help you?" I asked Aurora.

"Actually you can. I'm here to talk to Klaus. Can you direct me to him?" She asked me.

"Well he's not available, so I suggest you leave and next time make an appointment." I tell her but she just grows a smirk on her face.

"Get out of my way. This has nothing to do with you." She says.

"I think it does. You're talking to my boyfriend at his job. I'm his assistant, so whatever you want to say you can say it to me. I'll make sure I deliver the message." I say to her.

"Do not patronize me. You think fucking Klaus can you get you higher power than me? Well it doesn't. I always get what I want. So if you don't want me to destroy you, I suggest you move out of my way." Aurora says and she steps up close to my face as we give each other intense stares.

"Aurora!" I hear Klaus voice says calling from behind me. "Let's talk." Klaus says and Aurora stops looking at me and she walks pass me to go into Klaus's office.

I am so confused right now. Did Klaus invite her here?

It's lunch time and I am heading my way to Klaus's office. I actually need to talk to Klaus because he has some explaining to do. Why was Aurora here and why did he invite her over? I hope he tells the truth because I don't think I can handle any lies from him.

I sigh heavily and knock onto Klaus's door. I open it slowly and I see Klaus standing up in front of his desk.

"Klaus." I call out to him. He turns and signals me in with his hand. I walk in and close the door behind me.

"I brought you the Chinese food like you wanted." Klaus says moving out of the way to show me the Chinese food. It does smell really good.

Back to the topic Caroline.

"So care to explain what's going on?" I questioned Klaus and he gives me that weird one eye brow look.

"What do you mean?" He asked me seeming confused.

"You know. Why was Aurora here?" I questioned him.

"I invited her to talk about our divorce. There is some bad news actually." He says.

"What is it?" I asked him now concerned.

"The date has changed. In two weeks, I have to go into court with Aurora to start our divorce as soon as possible now." Klaus admits and I'm shock.

"I thought you said it was in three months." I say to him.

"It was but The judge already have all of Aurora's paper work. I still need to send in mine. I'm almost done but I'm missing a few things." Klaus admits. He looks so pale and stress and maybe nervous. I never seen him look like this before.

"Is Aurora gonna tell the judge about your past?" I asked him. I have to know if she's going to pull that card. I don't want her to take everything from him..

"Actually Caroline there is something that I must tell you. I need you to understand that whatever happens, I love you and I know I never told you this but I'm telling you now love." Klaus says as he comes closer to me and places his hands on my shoulders.

"What's going on Klaus?" I questioned him.

"Aurora will keep her mouth shut about my past as long as we stay as friends. We can't be together anymore." He says. Is this really happening?

"W-what?" I stutter.

"I'm sorry Caroline but this was the only way. I had no choice." He says and I shake his hands off my shoulders.

"Don't touch me. How could you do this me?" I questioned him angrily.

"Love I had no choice. Please don't be angry with me." He says.

"I can't believe you. You're breaking up with me because of you don't want Aurora to tell the judge about your stupid past. I had stood by you and been there for you and now you're hurting me." I say to him. "God I wish I didn't do this stupid contract or went to the gala with you or even had sex you. I can't believe I fell for you! Aurora was right, you are incapable of being in a relationship." I say and I storm out of Klaus's office and slam the door behind me hard.

I run to my office and I shut the door and that's when I started to break down. I couldn't fight the tears. I couldn't be strong enough to fight it. How could he do this to me? To us? I loved him.

I still love him.
