Chapter 54

Caroline's POV
It's the next day and I wake up with Kol not by my side. I turn over on the bed to see Kol standing at outside of his balcony. I climb out of bed and walk towards him.

"Hey." I say softly to him. Kol turns his head a bit.

"Oh good morning Darling." Kol says to me.

"Are you okay?" I asked him.

"I'm fine, I'm just a bit worried about you." Kol admits to me.

"Why are you worried about me? I'm fine." I say to him.

"It's just about what happened with Nik and you and than last night when we cuddle together. I just feel like I should be worried if you are okay about all this." Kol admits me. I step forward closer to him.

"Kol I'm fine. I just needed to have someone there with me to sleep. I really appreciate everything you have done for me. If I never stayed with you, I've would had find myself in my apartment and Klaus would have taking me to his place for sure." I admit to Kol. "Look I know it's weird but I do need you. I don't know where else to go Kol. Not home not to Klaus. No one." I say to him.

"Alright I understand. I just want to make sure that you are okay with all of this. Now let's get ready for work." Kol says as he walks pass me.

"Wait, I don't have my work clothes with me." I say to Kol.

"Don't worry, I had Jen bring a rack of clothes for you for the whole week over there." Kol points out to the rack of clothes at the corner of the room.

"Thank you once again Kol." I say to him as I give him a reliving smile.

"No worries Darling." Kol says giving me a smirk and. He walks out of the room, leaving me completely alone now. There goes that empty feeling again.

I made it to work with Kol and on the way, he bought me coffee. He's been really there for me and the whole car ride he's been asking me if I was okay but I told him that I am fine but I have a feeling he doesn't really believe me and he is just ready for me to snap.

As I walk up into the elevator, I see Klaus standing there.

"I'll just take the stairs." I say to him.

"No Caroline wait!" Klaus stops me. "It's fine just come in." He says to me and I sigh and roll my eyes and walk into the elevator with him.

The elevator ride is awkward and silent and it feels like it's taking us forever to get to the top floor. I hate awkward silences. As soon as I hear a ding and the elevator door opens, I rush out without saying a word. I try to scurry my way to my office with Klaus slightly following me from behind.

I'm trying to avoid him as much as I can today. As I made it to my office, I shut my door and sigh really heavily of relief. I walk up to my desk and as I sit, I hear my office phone ring.

"Hello." I say into it.

"I need you in my office." I hear Klaus's voice says.

I roll my eyes. "I'll be right there." I say and I slam the phone down.

Of course he would need me. Right now, I wish I wasn't his assistant. I walk out of my office to Klaus's office and I knock and open the door.

"Come in Caroline." Klaus says and I sigh again and walk in all the way.

"Is there something you need sir?" I asked him.

"Yes, can you get me some coffee from the lounge? I'm in a need of it right now." He says. Is he kidding? He called me to go fetch him some fucking coffee!

"As you wish sir." I say to him as I turn on my heels and walk out of his office.

I go down the lounge to get Klaus his coffee. Honestly I don't know why he couldn't just get it himself but anyways, I got the coffee and I'm going to give it to him now. I walk into Klaus's coffee and handed him his Coffee.

"Here you go." I say to him.

"Thank you and could you get fetch my papers from the cabinets over there?" Klaus asked me and I turn around and walk to his cabinets to grab his papers.

"Here you go." I say sarcastically.

"And can you-"

"Enough!" I shout at him. "Everything you wanted me to do was ridiculous. You clearly have no idea how hard it is to be in a room with you especially at work." I explain to Klaus and I see Klaus standing up from the desk and walking up closer to me.

"Really? Is it really hard that you work for me or that we broke up?" He asked me and I give Klaus a look. I hear the door knock while it interrupted our stares at each other. "Come in." Klaus says while he still has his eyes on me.

"Hey Klaus." A unfamiliar women voice says.

"Camille." He says and I finally turn around to see a blonde girl. "Oh Caroline would you mine? Me and Camille have things to discuss about." He tells me.

"Of course." I say as I walk past the blonde lady.

I honestly shouldn't even feel jealous. I bet she is probably someone he works with. I don't know why I should even care. Klaus broke up with me.
