Chapter 44

Caroline's POV
Klaus and I are in the limo to go to this party that the Mayor has thrown. Klaus looks a bit tensed but I hold on to his hand to comfort him. I hope nothing goes wrong tonight. I know how Klaus personally feels about Tyler, so I hope Tyler doesn't piss Klaus off in anyway.

I also hope Klaus can keep it together but when it comes to public places like this. He's pretty calm so I'm hoping everything goes well.

The limo stops at this huge golden gate and as It opens, there is a huge white building in front of it. It's not a house but it's a pretty big building. Klaus and I step out of the limo as I look around I see a bunch of expensive cars around.

"Love, I'm not sure how I feel about this" Klaus admits to me and I look at him.

"You're having second thoughts?" I questioned him.

"Sort of. I planned out our day together and I feel a bit guilty for canceling it to go to this party." He admits. I didn't know this plan meant a lot to him. I'm fine but Klaus seems to be taking it hard a bit.

"Don't feel guilty. Plus today I had an amazing time. No one can take that away from us." I say to him. "Now let's go in there and see what this party is really about." I say to him and Klaus smiles. He takes my hand and wrap it around his arm for us to walk together.

Theirs a large man outside with a black suite and he opens the door for us without question. He obviously knows who Klaus Mikaelson is and it's not like we need an invitation to prove. He was already expecting him.

We step in and the first thing I see is this beautiful chandelier on the ceiling and than I look down to see a group of people talking with their fancy dresses. Everyone looks nice and everyone here looks so important.

"I won't lie to you but I definitely feel out of place." I admit to Klaus. I hear him chuckle a bit.

"Trust me, if you are worried? Half of these women are with their men for the money." Klaus tells me.

"And why am I with you for?" I questioned Klaus.

"You're with me because I fancy you enough to be my fake girlfriend." Klaus admit. What did he say?

"What?" I asked him.

"Klaus!" I hear a familiar name call out to him and we see Stefan and Damon coming up to us again but this time with their dates. I see Stefan and Rebekah together and Damon with Bonnie. I didn't expect to see Bonnie with Damon. Are they friends or a couple?

"Stefan, Damon. I didn't expect to see you guys here." Klaus says.

"We didn't really want to come but Rebekah wanted us to go so we came." Stefan admits to Klaus.

"We had to go. It would make us look bad if we didn't." Rebekah says. "It's nice to see you again Caroline. You look amazing in that dress." Rebekah compliments me.

"Oh thank you Rebekah. You look nice as well." I say to her.

"Damon I heard you went to Mystic Falls. How was it?" Klaus asked him.

"It was alright. I made a lot of money over there." Damon admits.

"I bet you did." Klaus says to him.

"Klaus where we're you today? I went over Mikaelson industries because I finally got some of the papers back from the judge and I didn't see at work." Stefan asked Klaus.

"I was out. Me and Caroline took the day off together but I will be back in tomorrow to check on it." Klaus admits to him.

"Alright. I gave it to Kol. He said he will leave it on your desk tomorrow." Stefan says to him.

"Thank you Stefan." Klaus says and Stefan nods his head.

"We should get going Klaus. We will chat with you later." Damon says and they all leave to go somewhere else.

"You want a drink?" Klaus asked me and I nod. "Come on let's go find you a drink." Klaus says and we begin to walk around. A lot of people wave to us and say hi a couple of times until we see a huge table with champagne glasses on them. Klaus picks up one and hands it to me.

"Thank you." I say to him as I take a sip out of the glass. "So Bonnie. The girl that you worked with at the hospital. Is she and Damon together?" I asked Klaus.

"Yes and they are actually engaged. They're getting  married really soon." Klaus admits to me.

"Wow. I had no idea." I say to Klaus.

"They've been together for a long time. Damon had a dark period before and he was in a pretty bad state while his business was just kicking in but Bonnie helped him through everything." Klaus explained to me.

I'm happy for those two and Bonnie seems to be a helpful and nice person.
