26 Looking After You

"Dom just told me what happened" Sam said entering the room and handing me a mug "I made you a hot chocolate."
"Thanks." I said quickly before taking a sip of it
"You can come downstairs and wait. Justin has gone to bed."
"Are you going to bed too?"
"No. I'm gonna wait with you until Adam comes. I want to make sure everything's okay. Then I'll go to bed." She sat down on the end of the bed "So are you coming down?"
"Can I finish this first?"
"Sure sweetheart. Just come down when it's finished and stick the mug in the sink."
"Okay."
"I'll be in the living room waiting for you"
"Will you stay with me?"
"If you want me to" I chuckled softly "what?"
"Something Dom said"
"What did he say" I looked down at my cup smiling slightly
"Said you'd do anything for me if it made me happy. And it's true. Dom's the same. Raised him well."
"Well I try my hardest"
"You do a good job. The girls are amazing people and God knows what I would've done without you. Probably wouldn't still be here"
"You would."
"I wouldn't. Did Dom ever tell you where he found me?"
"No. Said it didn't matter and what mattered was that you were safe."
"He found me on a bridge. Pulled me back over the barrier and I hit my leg off the pavement. That's why he carried me in."
"He saved you and you've saved him ever since. Should've known you would end up together someday."
"Weird cus I call you mum though."
"But it's different. I'll never be your mum. Not your real mum and I didn't raise you from birth. Calling me mum is just your way of appreciating what I did for you. I think it's perfectly fine you and Dom are together. I think your perfect for him and him for you."
"So do I." I took the last sip of hot chocolate and smiled "Cmon. It's done. Let's go."

"Look who it is" Dom said coming in the room with Adam behind him
"Hi here's the gif-" he didn't get a chance to finish his sentence as I was already wrapped around him "Well hello to you too lex" he joked. He tried to pry me away "Cmon now. Well cuddle later." I shook my head and Dom took the bag of presents from his hand and set them down on the floor by the tree "Lex I'm fine" he said softly as he combed my hair through with his fingers. I eventually let go and sat down beside him on the couch
"Is everything alright?" Sam asked
"Yeah. Had to get a train and an Uber here because the psycho slashed the tyres." He could see the fear in my face as he said that and put his arm around me whilst continuing to talk to Sam "Stuffs been nicked and some has been trashed but it's all fine. Glad it was just me who's staying there."
"So we're you in the house?"
"Yeah. I was sleeping. Was woken up by the front door slamming and I thought it was one of the boys coming back to get something. Then I came down and saw that"
"Is there anything you need before I go to bed"
"No don't let me keep you. Got these two to keep me company anyway. You get some sleep and hopefully there will be no worries."
"Thank you."
"Night mum" I said not looking up from my lap. I could tell she was smiling though
"Night sweetheart. Night son. And Adam I guess" Adam chuckled
"Night sam" he said and with that she left the room
"Aren't you staying with family?"
"No. They still think you are with me back at the house. I didn't want to change plans just in case I had to come get you again."
"You want to call them?" I asked hoping the answer wouldn't be yes
"No. I like the idea of spending Christmas here. I think it will be nice. Why do you want me gone?"
"No." Dom finally got up off the floor and sat down on the other side of me
"You want the bed or the couch?" Dom asked Adam as he turned the TV on
"I'd love the bed but I can't take it"
"Sure you can."
"Where will Lexi sleep?" He asked
"Wherever she wants to. It's not like there anything going on between you guys so she can sleep up there if she wants" he shrugged his shoulders "Awe sick. Let's watch the grinch" I chuckled and cuddled into Adam
"Nah it's fine mate I'll take the couch."
"Alright suits me fine" he looked over at us cuddled up "is this what it's like when you have to be the third wheel when we all go out?"
"Pretty much" Adam said laughing "Been like that since day one. Should've known you'd end up together"
"Oh my god did everyone think that mum said the same thing"
"Yes!" Both boys said in sync making me laugh at them
"It's alright though. Cus we were right and now you're happy" I smiled and rolled my eyes at him "don't roll your eyes at me"
"How did you-"
"I didn't see. I just know for a fact that you did."
"Just shut up and watch the movie"
"But-"
"Shut up" he chuckled and shook his head smiling
"Whatever"

Adams POV
"Is she asleep?" Dom asked as the credits began to roll. I looked down at her and noticed she was "Want me to take her upstairs?"
"Yeah. She'd probably be better in an actual bed." He attempted to pull her away and pick her up but she tightened her hold
"No" she mumbled
"Lexi come on you need to go to bed with Dom."
"Stay with you" she mumbled sleepily "No Dom" I looked up at Dom who smiled
"She's spoken mate. You're not gonna get her off ya for shit"
"So what do I do?"
"Just let her sleep down here with you" he left the room and despite my protests he went upstairs. I looked down at Lexi who looked fast asleep
"You're not that bad eh lex" I whispered kissing her forehead "I love you"
"Took you long enough" she said opening her eyes
"I've been played haven't I?"
"Yep." She said beaming and sitting up
"You still wanna stay down here with me though?"
"Yeah." She said smiling "I'll go get a blanket"

Lexi POV
"You awake?" Adam said
"No" I replied giggling at my own joke. We were lay down on the sofa just managing to squeeze on and the living room was now in total darkness since neither of us put something on after the film we watched ended
"You should go up to Dom."
"I told you. I want to stay with you"
"And that's sweet but I want you to get some sleep. Please. For me."
"Fine."
"Yes finally you-"
"If you carry me up."
"I'll give you a piggy back?"
"Okay" he reached for the lamp and turned it on so he could see me
"Fuck man you look kinda comfy there." I smiled but sat up nonetheless "I really shot myself in the foot didn't I?"
"Yep." I said beaming. He stood up and turned around
"Cmon. Gotta take you to bed for at least a few hours" I jumped up and wrapped my as tightly around his neck whilst he held my legs up around his sides
"I'm glad you're alright."
"Me too"
"Open your present from me for Christmas. It's supposed to wait until then but you can have it now"
"I think I'll wait" I gripped him tighter as he carried me up the stairs and up until he dropped me down Infront of Dom's door "It will be more special Christmas day. Go on get some sleep." I closed my eyes and tilted my head up and he unexpectedly understood what I was asking and kissed my forehead gently making me smile. I didn't open my eyes and he moved to my ear "Go to bed" he whispered suddenly which made me jump and him immediately feel bad "I'm sorry" he said softly pulling me into a hug presumably so I didn't freak out and wake the house up
"I'm alright. Gonna actually go to bed. Night" I kissed his cheek and just as I turned round to open the bedroom door I heard a movement from across the hall. I looked over and saw Sam smiling "I'm fine mum I'll go to bed in a second." I said rolling my eyes
"No it's fine. You're in good hands" she gestured to Adam "I assumed you'd be sleeping downstairs with him."
"Why?" I said defensively. Adam chuckled at me.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to insinuate something. It's just you and Dom would always just sleep all cuddled up so I figured that's what you were gonna do"
"Well I just couldn't fall asleep. So he took me to bed."
"Well night kids." She said smiling and returning back to her room
"Go on. Go to bed" Adam said opening the door to the bedroom and motioning for me to walk through it "See you in the morning" he waited until I was in bed to close the door and leave
"He looking after you by bringing you to bed eh?" Dom said wrapping his arms around me and pulling me closer to his tired self
"Yeah. He is. Like always"
