29 One Day

"Merry Christmas!" Dom yelled jumping on the end of the bed and causing Adam to groan
"Fuck off Dom. You're in your twenties calm the fuck down." He sat up slowly letting me slide off and onto the bed causing me to groan in protest "You weren't even asleep lex so don't start"
"Awe did she just want cuddles?" Dom joked tickling the side of my face. I turned bright red and buried my face into the pillows to hide it from him
"She did until you disturbed her." Adam said mostly joking but with a slight hint of annoyance in his voice. Dom didn't seem to pick up on it though
"Cmon princess." Dom said. I shook my head and soon enough he put his hands underneath me to pick me up "Presents gorgeous girl"
"You two make me sick"
"Shut it Adam. You're just jealous cus Dom came in earlier than you thought"
"I am actually." He said walking over and getting in my face "what you gonna do about it?" I reached my hand out and he scrunched his face up bracing for impact. I extended my finger and touched his nose lightly with it
"Boop" I said innocently before giggling "cmon pretty boy let's go open some presents."

"Oh that one's from Justin" Sam said referring to the last gift under the tree
"For me?" I asked
"Yeah for you."  It was a long rectangular box quite deep and it didn't take a genius to figure out that it was just a box the gift was in so I couldn't figure out what it was. Justin was too busy in the kitchen "Open it then" she said sounding almost too excited for a gift that I assumed she had wrapped
"You know what it is though"
"She doesn't. But I do. Dad went and got it yesterday while we were out. Asked me if you'd like it" I stared at it for longer
"Lexi love you can open it later when you're on your own if you want" I shook my head
"I want to open it now. It's just he's never got me a present before so I'm a bit surprised."
"You'll love it" I unwrapped the box and opened it almost dying when I saw what was inside
"No." I uttered in disbelief "he didn't" I unzipped the case and inside was a guitar. It was bright pink and black exactly like I'd wanted for years
"Did you tell him?"
"No. Weird innit. Maybe he knows you more than he's letting on. Now you have an excuse to learn"
"Yeah" I said slowly not really processing the situation that was going on and just staring at the guitar in front of me
"You like it?" I looked up and saw Justin stood besides the spot Sam was sat on the sofa. I immediately stood up and walked over to him and he opened his arms welcoming the hug that he knew I was going for "Dom said you would. Thought I'd buy you something nice you can keep and take with you." I nodded "are you crying?"
"No" I lied pulling away and immediately turning around to face Dom and Adam "Don't know what you're talking about" Dom smiled and beckoned me over to sit on his lap on the floor. Jem and Izzy who were previously occupied by something on their phones looked over at me and I couldn't take everyone staring
"Stop staring at the poor girl. She's gonna freak out" Adam defended. I walked over to Dom and sat down on his lap tucking my head in his neck "You alright?" Adam asked softly as everyone resumed what they were doing
"Yeah. Just a bit overwhelmed that's all. The usual I guess."
"Alright." He pointed to the guitar "You want me to teach you?" Adam realised what he'd said and looked up at Dom who chuckled
"It's just guitar dude. It doesn't matter who teaches her. Anyway you can do it better."
"Let's do it later. Did you bring your guitar with you?"
"No. We can do it when we get back yeah?"
"Yeah" I said sadly. He turned around and joined the conversation between Sam and the girls
"Hey princess" Dom said softly "You happy with what you got?"
"Yeah. More than happy. But not because of what I got because I got to spend it with people I love."
"That's cute." He gave me an Eskimo kiss and I giggled at his pure innocence in that moment
"For years I thought your dad hated me." I said immediately changing the mood "But maybe I was wrong."
"Yeah. Maybe." He smiled and hugged me close "I love you gorgeous girl." I put my hand on his cheek and kissed him softly
"You too bubs"

"Don't you look nice" Adam said as I came downstairs. I smiled briefly before dropping it again and adjusting my dress for the millionth time in the hallway mirror "Dom is just in the kitchen talking with them" I nodded and continued fiddling with the fabric around my stomach area. He gripped my wrists to stop me doing it "You look fine."
"I'm just nervous. Haven't seen them in a while."
"Dom's family love you. Almost as much as me."
"Not even close. And that's not what I'm worried about. What if they don't like me being with Dom. What if they-"
"Stop over thinking it all." He moved his hands from wrists so he could hold my hands in his "you ready?"
"Yeah" I turned to my side and looked in the mirror at how my dress fit it
"The dress is nice. Now come on. Dom's gonna wonder why it took so long from when he sent me to wait for you."
"Awe that's cute."
"Not really. I just needed to leave so he gave me the job instead of doing it himself."
"Why'd you need to leave"
"It was really awkward. But now I've at least got you to talk to so that's cool I guess."
"I guess" I sighed and he took my hand in his as we walked back to the kitchen
"Here she is!" Sam said walking over to me and guiding me over to her sister
"You've grown so much"
"Yep. That I have" I said smiling awkwardly "Hey are you alright. Samantha get the poor girl a drink might calm her nerves" she did just that and she then turned her attention to me "So I hear you and our Dominic are official now"
"Yes we are" Dom said appearing behind me and calming me down a little "Me and my girl eh?"
"Yeah."
"So she's like family now." Dom said to his auntie
"Honey she was always family. Loved her since I met her the first time. It's a shame it's been a while since we saw each other. So has Dom been treating you right?"
"Yeah. Like a princess. As always."
"Good. You come to me if he breaks your heart yeah. I'll give him one"
"Stop" Dom wined turning read in sheer embarrassment. I caught sight of Adam in the corner looking a little lost so I beckoned him over. He shook his head so I walked over to where he was stood
"Come on. I wanna introduce you." I held my hand out and he stood defiant for a moment before giving in and taking it. "And this is Adam. You know him but I think the last time you met it was a quick visit on my birthday before we went out"
"Yes I know Adam." Adam awkwardly held his hand out for her to shake it "Come here sweetheart" she said before hugging him "You better be treating Lexi right too."
"He is" Dom said nodding at his best mate. He didn't get a chance to continue before Sam got everyone's attention
"Dom would like to say something" she said
"Cmon. Come with me" he whispered though I didn't really have a choice since next thing I knew he was dragging me over to the free spot in the kitchen
"This year has been rough. And I'm so glad that at the end of that I got something good. Well someone I should say. And me and my gorgeous girl are ready to take on the world." He looked down at me and smiled "So I thought I'd do something to show you. It might be way to early to propose. And I agree with that. But I wanted to give you something to keep with you to remind you of how much you mean to me." He pulled out a small box and opened it Infront of me "It's a promise. That one day I will ask you to be my wife." Inside the box was a gorgeous promise ring "So what do you say princess. You think you might want to be with me forever?" I looked up at him and smiled
"Of course I do" I kissed him passionately forgetting that there were others watching. Conversation had resumed by the time he pulled away and I giggled "You know if you'd have proposed I would have said yes."
"I'll file that one away for future notice" he took my hand and noticed that the ring Mikey gave me was still on my finger. I held my breath expecting him to ask me to take it off but he instead slipped it onto my middle finger instead before kissing my hand gently "One day" he said softly "One day I'm gonna be your husband and we're gonna have a life and a family and everything."
"Not yet. I like it being just us for now."
"Yeah. But one day. I fucking promise"
