79 Hospital

I waited in silence for mum to come get me. Alone. Tom had gone somewhere else and I hoped to god that he was still in the hospital. I wasn't scared about the baby. They'd told me everything was okay. But I was scared to be alone in a hospital.
"We have a visitor for you. Is it okay if he comes through? The babies father."
"Yep. Let him through." She disappeared and soon Dom entered the room
"How are you?"
"The baby is fine." I replied bluntly
"Where's Tom gone? Did he not wait with you?"
"No. He's a bit fucked up about it to be honest." He nodded "Why are you here Dom?"
"Because I care about you"
"Do you? Because you told me to leave my home. I'm living with mum. Actually having a good time without you."
"Tom texted me."
"Did he ask you to come?"
"Well, no but-"
"Exactly. We're doing just fine. You don't need to be here"
"You're pregnant with my child Lexi"
"And your child is fine. So leave."
"No i-"
"Nurse!"
"No don't do that. I'm going." He got up but didn't look mad. In fact I think he actually understood why I'd told him to go "I hope you're okay."
"Thank you. You too." He nodded and turned around fully intending to walk out if only Tom hadn't been there
"You're not going in there" Dom said sternly though not raising his voice probably so he didn't draw attention to us
"Dom I just want to know if the baby is alright." Dom had his back to me but Tom being the taller one could see past him. He looked at me and I shrugged, indicating it was nothing to do with me, before opening my arms and making grabby hands because I wanted him to hug me
"The baby is fine. You don't get to pick and choose when you care about her." Tom rolled his eyes at him and simply pushed him out of the way to get to me
"Neither do you" he said in response before walking over to me. He leaned over awkwardly to hug me tight "Are you okay?" He asked as if he was about to cry
"Both of us are fine." I said softly "Tom can I have a cuddle?" He nodded and let go. I shuffled to the side of the bed to let him on completely ignoring Dom still in the room "I love you" I said softly as I cuddled into him and he wrapped his arms around me
"I'm so fucking sorry"
"Sorry? Did you fucking do this?"
"No he didn't. He just feels guilty. He didn't do anything."
"He did something. I know he did. What did you do?"
"Go away Dom. Let me have time with her. Please?" He wasn't confrontational at all and in fact his begging was quite pathetic. Dom's whole demeanor changed and he looked like he was about to cry himself
"I'm sorry. We miss you"
"Even Adam?"
"The most. Since Colson left I barely see him out. Only for meals." Tom looked up at him and I chuckled at how even in his sad state he was trying to protect me "Yeah I get it Tom. Don't worry her. But I also want her to know she's welcome back home."
"Soon." I said simply
"I'm gonna go. You're in safe hands. Don't know what I thought I'd do if you already got him."
"Bye. Love you." He paused. I didn't quite get why but I assumed it was because he was confused that I'd said I loved him. He soon smiled though and nodded
"I love you too." He replied before walking out. As soon as he was gone Tom pulled me onto his lap so he could hold me closer, my legs dangling off the edge of the small hospital bed
"I won't ever let that happen again. I promise. I'm so fucking sorry Lexi." He started crying and muttering his apology over and over. I didn't quite know what to do so I was thankful when Justin walked in with Sam
"We're here to take you guys home." Justin said alerting Tom who wiped his eyes with his sleeve and looked up "Do you guys need more time?"
"No. It's early morning and I wanna go home." I said. Tom let me go but I could tell he didn't want to "Can we sit in the back?" I got up off the bed and held my hand out for Tom but he didn't take it so I put it back down to my side
"That's fine love." Sam said softly "I'll make you something to eat when we get back."
"I'm not hungry" she nodded and gestured for us to follow them out. Tom stood up and walked alongside me for a bit before reaching out and trying to hold my hand. I kept moving it away from him to wind him up so eventually he grabbed my arm and put my hand in his
"Is everything okay?" He asked
"Everything's fine."
"I mean between us" I stopped and he sensed it and stopped straight away. I turned my body towards him and looked up at his face
"Everything is fine between us. I know that's what you were asking. I don't hate you or have any stupid grudge against you. And I wouldn't even if I did lose the baby."
"Cmon you two!" Justin shouted from the car. I laughed a little and once again held Tom's hand
"Let's go. Before he starts getting annoyed at us. And I'm gonna give you a big cuddle when we get home."
"What if I don't want a cuddle?" He challenged
"Well I don't care. Gonna give you the biggest cuddle I can."
"I'd like that. A lot actually cus I'm a little fucked up right now."
"Then cmon" I whined speeding up and dragging him with me "We gotta get back"

"Do you two ever actually seperate?"
"Rarely" Sam commented "But they're quiet leave em alone." I chuckled at the way she slyly scolded her own husband "Are you two planning on going to bed soon?"
"When this episode finishes yeah" Tom spoke up. I looked up at him pouting slightly "Don't try that with me. You gotta go to sleep darlin'. Or else you'll mess up your sleeping patterns too much." I rolled my eyes at him and looked back at the TV still rested rather comfortably on his lap "don't roll your eyes at me" he whispered making me laugh
"You really love her don't you?" Justin asked Tom. I pretended to watch what was on TV but listened to them talking
"A lot yeah. Today really freaked me out." He gripped me a little tighter but I figured it was subconsciously "Gotta keep her safe."
"I wish I did. But I know you do and will carry on keeping her safe as long as you have to." I wanted to step in but I knew the conversation was personal and I almost sighed when I saw the credits roll
"Lexi" he said softly. I looked up at him "Cmon sweetheart. Bed." I nodded and stood up. I said goodnight to them both and followed Tom upstairs to my room "I know you heard that"
"It sounded personal."
"It's fine. I'm gonna go get dressed and go to the bathroom. Be back in a minute." He left and I changed into a pair of leggings and a hoodie since it was the most comfortable thing to sleep in before climbing into bed. I was half asleep when Tom came in "Can I come cuddle ya?"
"I appreciate you asking but of course." He got in beside me and I immediately moved over and layed across him "I love you. And I know today scared you a lot."
"Really did. I'm glad you're safe though."
"Where's my love you?"
"But it doesn't mean much now cus you want me to say it"
"Just say it"
"I love you." He kissed the top of my head gently "But no more sitting on car bonnets at night."
"If that's all I lose then that's fine. I still got you"
"Damn right"
"Can we go on that picnic today?"
"Sure can. But you gotta sleep first." I smiled and started to drift off "I'm so lucky to have you." He whispered softly but from the way he said it he must have thought I was asleep. I smiled and after that finally fell asleep.
