Jasmine's POV
"What are your teachers gonna say then?" Ms Tina asked as we sat down for lunch in the mall."That I'm a delight." I replied. "And yall should treat me to shopping days more often."
"Hm, is that so?" She questioned and I nodded innocently.
It was 2 weeks later and today school was closed for parent teacher meetings, and let me tell you now I was dreading when Bey came back. We were still staying with Ms Tina, but dads relationship with Bey was getting better I suppose.
"I mean, Bey likes to exaggerate a lot, you should know that..."
"I also knows she tells the truth." She told me. "And I know your dad takes school very seriously."
"Yeah." I sighed.
"So what's really been going on?" She asked, taking a sip from her drink.
"It's just hard. I am trying, but every time I finally start to understand something, the topic changes to another one, so then I fall behind even more and it gets hard to focus." I explained.
"Does Beyoncé know this?"
"Not really. She knows my grades are slipping in some subjects. Hers being one."
"I suggest you let her know tonight then. If not then I will." She told me. "I think you forget you're living with a teacher now, she can help you if you're struggling, all you gotta do is say."
"I guess." I said, cracking my knuckles.
"It's nothing to be embarrassed about. A lot of people find high school stuff hard. Beyoncé was one of them."
"Really?" I asked, resting my chin on my fist.
"Yeah, believe it or not she struggled too. Me and her dad caught on pretty quickly though and she caught up eventually." She told me. "You have to remember, the upbringing you've had, you falling behind is expected. You'll be on track soon."
"The car incident didn't help either." I mentioned.
"How'd you mean?"
"I've always found focusing difficult, but since what happened it's been a little harder." I admitted.
"Like it's always on your mind or you generally just can't focus."
"It flashes sometimes, but more general. Things have just been harder since then. Concentration is not my strong point." I said chuckling. "I don't know whether it's all just psychological and it's actually been like that since before."
"Hm could be. You need to speak to Beyoncé or your dad. They'll sort it all out." She told me and I nodded. "And like I said, if you don't, I will."
"Yeah yeah." I replied laughing slightly.
"Bey's also told me about your mood swings..."
"Everyone just annoys me. It's nothing." I replied.
"Yeah, but you can't keep getting angry at them. These outbursts are uncalled for. Let me tell you now as well, you gotta stop with the Beyoncé's not your mom excuse. I understand you get angry, but you shouting that hurts her."
"I know, I can't help it. It's my only defence when she shouts at me." I said. "I do regret it when I say it though."
"I'm sure you do, but does she know that?" She asked and I shrugged. "Don't forget she's done a lot for you, I don't wanna bring it up, but she's been more of a mom to you than your own. So when you tell her that it crushes her."
