Jasmine's POV

A few days later
I woke up with a start, my heart racing and beads of sweat forming on my forehead. Another restless night, another jarring nightmare. I let out a sigh, taking my arm out of the cover and reached for the lamp switch on the nightstand next to me, switching it on as a warm glow shone in the room. Squinting for a moment allowing my eyes to adjust, I searched for my phone to check the time and tapped the screen as it lit up. 2:58 am. At least I lasted longer than the many previous nights.

"Come and get me next time," the familiar voice echoed in my head, this time without a physical presence. I sighed heavily, contemplating my next move. With a determined nod, I climbed out of bed and stood there for a moment, unsure of what to do, before eventually, deciding to go seek comfort from the one person who knew best right now.

Quietly, I made my way down the hall and into their bedroom, being careful not to disturb Blue who was, to my surprise, still peacefully asleep next to her. I gently tapped her on the shoulder, and she woke up with a slight start.

"Did it happen again?" She asked, her eyes filled with concern and I nodded in response. "Come on," she said, understanding the situation. She carefully got out of bed, tucking the cover back around Blue and grabbing my hand as we left their bedroom before navigating the dimly lit hallway. She put her arm around me and just knowing she was beside me brought a comforting sense of reassurance, as if her presence alone could get rid of the uneasy feeling in my stomach.

She pushed the door open to outside and I followed her out, as the warm breeze blew through my curls and the sound of the waves were crashing against the still boat. We sat down on one of the wicker chairs as she grabbed the one of the blankets from the box next to it and put it over us.

"You gotta tell your momma." Solange sighed.

"I know, and I will. Just after this trip..." I replied. "And you can't either. You promised."

"I know, I know. But your gal needs her beauty sleep too." She chuckled softly.

"You said we were in this together."

Flashback
I shot up with a loud gasp, my hand on my chest in an attempt to regulate my breathing and get my heartbeat back to a normal pace. I wiped away the tears that had stained my face in my sleep and sniffed. God that felt real. Even on my happiest of days, I just can't seem to escape them. I reached over to pick up the bottle of water that was next to me to relieve my dry mouth, only to discover that it was empty.

I'd tried hard over the past few nights to refrain from going to her, knowing she probably needed sleep a little more than me given she's carrying not one, but two babies. And while I always managed to keep my mind occupied through the night, whether it be talking to my friends, playing a game on my phone or watching whatever trash TV was on, it was the daytime when I found myself struggling.
