Beyoncé's pov
I woke up in the middle of the night, checking my phone for the time to see it was 1:15am. I heard a footsteps on the hallway outside our bedroom, followed by a few creaks of the wooden staircase. I carefully climbed out of bed, putting my slides on my feet and followed the noise all the way to the kitchen, where i saw Jasmine with her back facing away at the sink. I learnt against the doorway with my arms folded.

"What happened to your good nights sleep you were on about before?" I spoke out, causing her to jump.

"I couldn't... getting a drink instead." She replied, turning the tap on and off once she'd filled the glass.

"Why? What's up?" I asked half concerned.

"Nothing, just thinking..." she said, stepping away from the sink.

"About...?"

"It doesn't matter. Now I've got what I came for, imma head back up." She said, trying to squeeze past me. That's when I saw her neck.

"Jasmine wait, your neck, you didn't show us that?" I said gently grabbing her arm until she pulled it away and put her hand on her neck. She closed her eyes, as what looked like she was having some sort of flashback, before she jumped, opening her eyes again. "Did he do that? Your mums boyfriend I mean."

"Um, yeah." She said. I sighed.

"Why didn't you ring? I said if you needed help to ring as soon as"

"It was hard you know... even ringing today, I didn't want to do it. But I literally had no other choice." I was about to reply, but she interrupted before I could even get any words out. "Why do you care so much?" She asked, with what sounded like genuine curiosity.

"I care about all my students you know... but I don't know, I see something special in you, I know you can do the work if you really tried, I know that all this talking back is just a wall that needs breaking down. I used to be like you."

"You're gonna get hurt if you care so much.."

"What do you mean?" I asked

"Like I said, Cole said I won't see Christmas, especially if they find out about this. Me being here."

"But we can stop that. You just gotta let us in... sit down for me a minute and talk." I said as I lead her over to the kitchen table and I sat opposite her.

"About what?"

"Anything."

Jasmine's pov

"Anything." She said. Why's she acting like we don't have to get up tomorrow, it's almost half one in the morning.

"You said you used to be like me, so how've you got all this?" I asked, looking around. She sighed, laughing slightly.

"I worked for it. I knew what I wanted, what I wanted to do with my life, so I worked for it." She replied as if it was so simple. "What do you want from life? What's your aspiration?"

"My aspiration?" I asked, she nodded. "I suppose I just wanna be happy at this point.. I know what I don't want to be doing."

"What's that?" She asked

"Raising a kid in a one bedroom house, no husband, no job, no money. Making my kid work just to keep a roof over our heads." I sighed lowly.

"So work for what you do want. Not for what you don't want. If you carry on the way you are, I hate to break it to you but you're not gonna get very far." She advised, giving me some tough love. "You've got your whole life ahead of you, make the changes now." I nodded before she changed the subject, seeing me yawn. "Now why couldn't you sleep? You're obviously tired, i bet you've not had a proper night sleep in a long time."
