Jasmine's POV
I was awoken the next morning by a breeze and the sound of waves crashing against each other. It took me a good few moments to work out where I was, what day it was, why I was on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Heck, even why my eyes were stinging, until I remembered I'd spent the majority of last night crying in Bey's arms. How embarrassing. I'm literally 16 today, and what am I still doing?
Having nightmares and crying at them. Every. Night.
Bey's arms were wrapped tightly around me, as I rested my head in her chest feeling somewhat safer. The thing I hated most about the nightmares, not even the embarrassment, but the fact that Bey would insist on staying with me. Yeah that's embarrassing in itself, being 16 and having an adult send me off to sleep. But I hated that she'd always end up making sure I was asleep before she went to sleep herself. And if I didn't end up going to sleep, neither would she.
It always made me feel guilty, because she's pregnant, she needs the sleep more than me. And while she acts like she's not tired, she is. All I've ever wanted is a mother who will look after me, and now I have someone who is looking after me, it just doesn't seem right. She's got enough going on without me adding to it all.
What time was it even? I carefully squeezed my hand through the tiny gap between her arm and me to look at my watch. 7:37am. March 28th. My 16th birthday.
"Jas?" Bey questioned with a stretch.
"Sorry." I whispered.
"What for?"
"I woke you?"
"No boo, I was resting my eyes." She said letting out a chuckle. Lies.
I cleverly took the opportunity to roll my eyes, considering my head was on her chest so it was impossible for her to see.
"Morning birthday girl." She sung out, stretching once more and sitting up before pulling me up with her. She put her arm around me and pulled me into her side. "How you feeling?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?" She mocked me followed by a light chuckle. "Last night baby."
"Oh... tired I guess." I responded just above a whisper. "Did everyone see?"
"No, it was only me and your dad there. Then Solange came and took you to bed." She spoke softly.
"Oh, I thought everyone would've been there. That would've been embarrassing." I said, letting out a sigh of relief. "I thought I heard grandma's voice."
"No baby, just me and your dad." She replied quickly. I nodded into her, letting out a yawn.
"Bey?" I asked and she responded with a mumble. I looked up at her, as she hid a yawn with the back of her hand, before squeezing her eyes shut and opening them again. "What happens today?"
"What do you mean?"
"What are we doing? How does it all start?"
"Your birthday?" She clarified and I nodded into her again. "It's up to you baby. Blue chose breakfast then presents remember, then she had her party. The day is yours to do whatever you want."
