CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN
CHRISTMAS

ARTEMIS AWOKE ON Christmas morning to find a stack of presents at the foot of her bed and Ginny already halfway through opening her own, while Hermione was trying to fix her vest in front of the mirror.

"Ah, So you're finally awake! Come on, you need to open your presents." she informed the still-sleepy Artemis."Hermione here had already opened hers, but we all know which one is her favourite." Ginny winked teasingly, Artemis blushed and quickly hid her flushed face in the pillow, as Hermione pretended not to hear anything, but her reddened cheeks showed everything from her reflection in the mirror.

The bushy-haired witch let out a cough and turned to the still-laying girl in the bed. "Well, won't you open them?"

Artemis removed the pillow from her face, sat down at the end of the bed, and bent down to pick up an emerald-green box with a gold ribbon wrapped around it. She tore the package and opened the box. There was a white candle in it. Artemis took it out of the box and examined it carefully; there was a label in the centre that read: Chocolate and Coconut. The dark-eyes girl smiled gently and sniffed, inhaling the aroma.

Just then a piece of paper fell from the bottom of the candle, it was a card. She picked it up from the ground and chuckled, realizing that the candle was from Sirius. "I can't believe he was able to guess the exact scent."

"Probably your aunt told him," Ginny responded, taking a bite of her pastry.

"Probably." Artemis nodded.

She opened the remaining presents, deliberately leaving Hermione's present last, making the girl impatient.

Hermione had already opened Artemis's present, and no matter how much she hid it, Ginny could see her rising love when she saw that the dark-eyed girl had given her the necklace she had been wanting for two years in a row as she always was passing through Diagon Alley. She had always known that Artemis paid attention to the details and the little things, especially when it came to the people she loved. And Hermione was sure that Artemis loved her more than anything like she loved her.

With only Hermione's gift left, unlike the others, Artemis carefully opened the package, revealing a beige book with a gold-engraved title on it: Ancient Greek Mythologies. She lifted her dark eyes which were twinkling to Hermione who was looking at her rather nervously. "Is this the book you were talking about? About gods and heroes?" she asked quietly, watching Hermione with hopeful eyes as her heart started to flutter.

Hermione gulped and nodded, making Artemis smile widely. "Thank you." the dark-eyed girl responded, making Hermione smile slightly.

"Anything for you."

With a loud crack, Fred and George Apparated at the foot of her bed.

"Merry Christmas," said George. "Don't go downstairs for a bit."
