CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE
MOUSESo far Christmas at Rosewood Manor had gone smoothly. Augustus hadn't been home, which meant that the family had nothing but happiness and laughter. Artemis had seen a new side of her mother and her Aunt Ingrid.
On the first day of the holidays she found the both of them plus Daphne in the kitchen, baking sugary goods the Muggle-way, no House-Elf in sight. Artemis could've cried when Bellatrix embraced her lovingly, placing a longing kiss to her hairline. Later on in the evening, Narcissa and Draco joined them.
The two sisters and their aunt sat by the fireplace, looking as happy as ever in their nightwear, as if their husbands had seemingly vanished into thin air.
"This is so weird," Draco said, as Tom, Daphne, Artemis and himself sat opposite them, the Rosewood's sharing an armchair and Artemis and Draco sharing a sofa.
"I think it's cute," Daphne smiled at the three women, as Bellatrix's loud laughter filled the air. A sudden knock on the door caught their attention. Tom shot up, a look of childlike excitement on his face as he rushed to the door.
"Wotcher, Tom!" They heard the loud voice of Nymphadora Tonks at the door. Artemis and Draco looked at each other in shock. In the doorway of the home was Tonks, Andromeda and Apollo, who stood uncomfortably off to the side.
"Meda, about time you joined us!" Bellatrix laughed gleefully, hugging her younger sister.
"Oh, how I've missed you, sisters," Meda smiled, pulling Narcissa into their hug.
"Oh, stop it, you'll make me cry," Ingrid sniffed, wiping furiously at her eyes.
"Doesn't take much," Tonks and Tom muttered, grinning at each other as Daphne smacked their shoulders, watching with a smile as the Aunt pulled her three nieces close to her.
"I thought they hated Aunt Andromeda?" Draco whispered to Artemis, both of them watching the interaction like hawks.
"Clearly not," Artemis whispered back. The next few hours were spent with more laughter, Artemis and Tom introducing Daphne and Draco to Tonks, who was enthusiastic as ever to meet new people, more so a family member.
Apollo didn't join in. He sat in the corner with his nose deep in a book, sending the occasional glare at the groups way. The Tonks' and Apollo left around midnight, bidding a Merry Christmas and goodnight to their relatives.
"So, what was that?" Artemis asked when it was just her and her mother left in the living room. Daphne and Tom retreated to their bedroom half an hour ago, Daphne complaining of slight discomfort and nausea, and the Malfoy's and Aunt Ingrid not limb after them.
"What was what?" Bellatrix asked her daughter, both of them staring at the fire.
"I thought you hated Aunt Meda?"
