"There he is. All hail the birthday boy," Charles called excitedly as Jake walked into the bullpen.

He quickly turned the handle on the confetti popper he'd been holding and it let out a loud bang as the confetti covered Jake.

"What the hell was that?" Rosa growled as she and Natasha jumped up from their desks with their guns pulled out.

"Charles and a confetti popper," Natasha rolled her eyes and sat back down with a huff.

"Charles, probably shouldn't have done that in a police station," Jake sighed.

"And not celebrate your birthday properly?" He scoffed, "I'd rather get shot."

"Is that an invitation?" Natasha called, her eyes never leaving the file she was reading.

Jake laughed fondly as his gaze moved to her. "You do you, Boyle."

Charles nodded proudly. "I'm doing me."

"What's this case?" Jake asked as he sat down in the perp chair by Natasha's desk.

"It's not a case. It's research on your mom," She explained simply, her eyes still trained on the file, "It has things she probably doesn't even know about herself."

Jake watched her with fond eyes before he gently hooked his finger under her chin and made her face him. "Just relax. She's gonna love you. You're both strong, accomplished women that have seen me naked."

Natasha rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile at her boyfriend. "You're sweet. And I don't know if you haven't noticed but I'm not. I need to make a good impression."

"Hey, you're sweet just with a little scary," He pecked her nose, "Besides, you made a hell of an impression of Holt. That's gotta count for something."

"Have you met Holt?" She raised a brow.

"Oh, yeah. Right," He nodded before he shrugged, "Still, I know my mom is going to love you. Here, I'll even give you a little advice. Uh... Oh! Great. Nice work. Topics to avoid: how my dad left us and ruined our lives, how my dad got remarried twice and ruined our lives, how my dad moved to Canada and ruined our lives-"

"You know what?" She cut him off and cupped his face, rubbing his cheek comfortingly, "I'm just gonna steer clear of your dad entirely."

"Smort," He nodded, "You're gonna be fine, all right? She's gonna totally love you."

"Okay," Natasha nodded and smiled.

Jake's brows furrowed. "Are those her dental records?"

"Yeah, this is really thorough. Like FBI grade thorough," She admitted.

"Wow," He breathed out and turned to her in awe, "You are so cool!"

She laughed as she finally closed the file and stood up. "I have some paperwork Holt needs to sign."
