Before I could react to what he said, Jasper took my arm and guided me inside the library. The door opened with a mild ringing tone and a middle aged woman welcomed us smoking her cigar.
"You are finally here. I knew you would come." She said shaking her head.
With no absolute idea what's happening, I looked towards her and forced myself to smile.
"Aunt, this is Ray. She's helping me with my wand. And Ray this is my aunty, Vannesa." He gestured to greet her.
I extended my hand towards her but I guess she was in no mood for handshaking and she gave a warm hug.
"Welcome darling. If you are brought by Jasper then I hope you are much special to him. He usually just don't bring anybody here." she smiled teasingly.
"Stop it aunt. There's nothing special. I helped her once and she insisted to help me instead that's all." he turned away from us.
"Ok. I'll take that answer for now. Let's get into the dungeon without wasting time." she pointed her finger somewhere down in the darkness.
Jasper nodded and we moved to the downstairs and it was pitch dark. Vannesa murmured some spells and lo!!! a small lamp appeared in her hand.
Hmmmmm they really know magic.
"What is kept down there?" I asked pulling his shirt.
"We are going to fry you in a hot boiling pot." he giggled.
"WHAT???!!!" I shouted.
"Hushhhhh.. keep your voices low. You will be in trouble if the spirits wake up. They aren't much found of humans." Vannesa said and continued to walk.
I apologized with a bow.
Spirits?? Oh god, now this is becoming scary. I should have given a second thought to my decision.
"Ahhh.. you indeed is a silly woman." still laughing
"Shut up. I hate you. I'm a black belt holder. Don't try to mess with me." I whispered
"No comments." This time he covered his mouth to laugh.
Such an annoying brat. I swear I will twist your neck by end of the day.
As we walked further, it became more cold and dark. Few noises were making me anxious but I tried my best to hold on. After walking to some distance I eventually lost my patience when something passed past my ears. In fear, without making any noise I grasped Jasper's hand and clenched tightly to it.
Sensing my fear he glanced at me and put his left arm around, making me comfortable. He didn't react anything but I knew he wasn't heartless. I never felt so safe with anyone. I am slowly falling for him. This time more seriously.
"We have reached the doors." Vannesa threw the lamp in air as it disappeared.
She pushed a giant wooden door and entered, her dress was changed miraculously to a black hooded cloak. I couldn't see any further as it was covered with fog. I was just going to step in when Jasper pulled me backwards and halted.
"You can't get inside. It's protected by our ancestral witch and wizard spirits. Any human entering such sacred place will be burnt to ashes."
"What??!! Then what should I do? Don't tell me to return back to the library alone. I can wait here."
"That's why I brought this potion. Drink it. This will help you to cross the barrier and allow you to stay hidden from the spirits for next one hour. We need to return back before the time's up." He took out a tiny glass bottle with some funky yellow liquid in it and placed in my hand.
"Do I have any other option? No right? Ok, I'll do as you say. You have my full trust." I opened the cap and drank the whole thinking it as a pineapple juice.
"YUCK!!!" I coughed.
"Hold my hand and set foot in with me. I promise not to break your trust." Jasper said softly putting my hand on his.
Please God, don't kill me. I still have plans for my marriage with a handsome man like this annoying wizard. Amen :(
