"Hey, hey, don't be scared. Promise I am not here to hurt you" Stiles said softly making sure to keep the power out of his voice so he wouldn't frighten her.
He knelt down next to her, his hands up in a surrender like fashion to show her he meant know harm.
"Are you hurt? Where are your parents?"
The girl didn't reply but what he said must have done something as tears well up in her eyes again and an agonising cry left her mouth.
Stiles hovered near her, unsure what to do. She seemed traumatised? Though as there was some blood of her clothes he assumed something terrible must have happened to her but what was she doing alone?
He waited for her cries to turn to sobs before he spoke to her again.
"Did, something happen to your parents?" He asked, sympathy seeping into his voice.
She nodded as she sobbed.
She hugs the mirror piece tighter.
Stiles didn't want to upset her but Alicia flashed in his mind, he needed to save her.
"Can I have that mirror piece?" He asked hesitantly but guilt eating away at him.
Something had happened to her parents and he was asking her for the mirror, ignoring that but Alicia!
She just tightened to her hold on it, tears spilling down her cheeks.
Okay what was he supposed to do now? He didn't want to leave her alone, he wanted to help her but he also needed that mirror piece.
He was sure the task wouldn't be that he needed to steal the mirror piece from her and be done with it so what should he do?
Stiles blinked as he felt a tug on his clothes. After a while mulling over his thoughts the girl was tugging on his clothes.
"Do you want to take me somewhere?" He asked.
It seemed she had decided he was safe and wanted to show him something.
Despite being about seven or eight she still had not said one word to him.
Was she mute or just too scared Stiles wondered.
They stopped walking once they got to a small house in the woods. The first thing that Stiles noticed was...the door was ripped open, blood splattered across the door.
Stiles said, immediately feeling sorry for the girl.
"Is this where your parents were?"
They were probably dead then and his heart really did go out to her.
She again did not answer him and simply tucked on his clothes, looking towards the house.
Maybe if her parents were still alive he could save them?
Stiles approached the house, desperately hoping he would not find their bodies.
He stepped over the destroyed door into the house. Stiles told her softly "Stay behind me"
Just in case he wanted to block her vision if possible considering all the blood. Maybe if they were dead, she had already seen them but just in case, he walked in front of her.
After walking around the cramped wooden house, apart from some destroyed chairs and the blood there was no signs of any bodies.
Thank god she doesn't have to see that Stiles thought grimly.
But still, he did get the creeps, especially considering the blood trail he noticed leading out of the back of the house and back into the forest.
Where they attached by some sort of animals then her parents where dragged of somewhere?
Was solving this part of the trial?
Sure he could just take the mirror piece from her but then how was he supposed to go back? The door he came from had vanished and he was sure something that was meant to be a trial didn't involve him just taking it from the child that would be too easy and wasn't a trial, how was that meant to prove he was worthy of the cure? Also frankly he didn't want to do that either.
"Alright, come on, I'll help you find your parents" Stiles said, determined to help her and complete this trial.
