Stiles looks outside of the window of the Mind District. His eyes glow brightly as his vision grows stronger, to unnatural levels. He is then able to see it. The gallows is being set up, awaiting the next criminal.
Reni.
The crowd that gathered there was incredibly big for an execution but this was no mere criminal Stiles supposed.
He had wanted to be there but he had something else to deal with. He knew they had arrived, he could feel how terrified the mother was, the child not so much. He didn't blame her though, thinking back to when he'd first met the ex grand master and the Lord of Mind, he could relate.
Now what was the punishment for showing disrespect to the Grand Master? Ah...that was right, it was death. He was looked at like a god in this realm and anyone who disrespected him in anyway would face those consequences.
But...
He didn't want to be that type of ruler. The type that everyone feared. Maybe it was easier ruling that way but it just didn't feel right.
To my enemies Stiles thought, I'll be happy to play the villain, to be their greatest nightmare. But his subjects? Only civilians who've hardly done anything wrong, who where only just trying to live simple lives? No, he didn't want to be feared.
With that in mind he felt their presence move closer and closer to the Lord of Minds throne room where he waited for him.
Stiles commanded some of his magic to circulate up to his ears, listening into their conversation.
"Mum, I don't understand -"
"Just be quiet, how many times do I have to tell you? Stay silent and only speak if he talks to you, understand?"
"You told me that already though-"
"Maybe if you'd showed me that you understand what silent means then I wouldn't have to repeat myself"
Suddenly their presence stilled and Stiles heard his mothers voice turn more sober and he could literally feel her fear through her voice this time and not the connection he had with them as his subjects.
He could imagine what was happening inside his head.
They stopped walking, she turned around and leans down, so they are face to face.
"My dear boy, you have no idea what could possibly happen to us, do you? Well, all I can tell you is that everything will be okay. We will get of this alright and we'll come back home and you'll be able to catch up with your friends and tell them that you met the Grand Master in person, they'll be so jealous but...but this can only happen if you stay silent and let me do the talking, okay?"
There was silence for a few seconds then...
"Okay mum"
The boys reply this time was more sincere and quite, it seemed like he'd finally realised the serious of the situation but instead of voicing this and worrying his mother, he just agreed, to help her.
Stiles smiled a little at that.
The mother and the boy started walking again and after taking some more directions from a servant, they arrived outside the throne room.
Stiles waisted no time.
"Come in"
